Mathazar
Hey man, don't be such a stranger around here, we all missed you! Keep-on posting bud, I get a lot out of your reviews and opinions on Hookah Smoking It would be a REAL shame if you were to stop posting in this forum. Come to think of it, where the HELL has King Mo been?
HookahCulture
Hi! I was just busy with other things, it's been a bit hectic lately. Work on the computer was actual work and email. It's been so busy that I haven't taken the time to have a smoke. My nice clean unit is decorating my burlwood table at the moment, but it will be used today! Read on. King Mo is doing fine I guess, he sent me some flavor samples from the UK which I picked up last night. He checks in here, we exchanged PM's today. Flavor reviews to come as the smoking happens! Mo sent me Romman peach, Qema apple, AF GS apple (my fave, no review necessary, you heard it all), Dana peach, Fumari guava, and Fumari mint choc chip. I haven't had the Romman peach in ages, never had the Qema apple, Dana peach or the Fumari guava, these I look forward to greatly! He sent about 50g of each, as I sent him some from here. So I had the flavors in the car, and it was smelling REALLY GOOD! The guava and peaches were permeating. I went out to one of the bars I go to, and it was transformed into a goth anti-Xmas event. Someone brought a hookah, and there it was on the table! Well I just had to step in and make some friends! They were smoking Al Waha mint and using those abominable Syrian quick-lights! I had to educate them. I went to my car and fetched some AF GS eskandrani apple, loaded the bowl, did the coals THOROUGHLY before placement, and everyone's eyes were popping out of their heads in amazement. Too bad the previous mint influenced the flavor a little, but everyone liked it anyway. They also had some choc. capuccino Al Waha. MMMmmm chocolatey! Oh yeah the MAJESTIC coals I mentioned in a previous post here, I meant to say DIAMANTE. I don't know where I got "majestic" from! DIAMANTE is the superior Chinese natural charcoal. --Reiner
Mathazar
Good hearing from you HookahCulture. That was a fascinating story on the Goth lounge No, seriously, you must have converted MANY non-hookah smokers that day I went to HookahCompany.com and the description said that Diamante is an imitation Japanese Coal made in China, and that it DOES impart a charcoal flavor in your smoke. Currently I prefer using Golden Quick-Light Coals, as they impart little to no flavor in the smoke, depending on the strength of the flavor I'm smoking, I really can't taste any charcoal flavor whatsoever. Though, I would like to try some good Natural Coals. I want to try the Olive Wood Coals, but I remember Gamaliel saying that they're not made out of Olive Wood, but rather Olive Seeds. That doesn't sound too charming. I would try Lemon Wood, but linkcat told me he had a bad experience with them. So I really don't know what kind of natural wood to look for. Good to hear King Mo is doing well. I'll look forward to your reviews of the samples you received. Personally, after tasting Fumari White Peach, the Romman Peach wasn't much of an attraction to me. Though, I would be interested in trying the Fumari Guava, if you give it good marks in your review. I've found MOST of Fumari's flavors to be unsmokeable, with the exception of Mint, White Peach, and Watermelon. Watermelon being their BEST Take it easy man, and don't let work get you down. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
HookahCulture
I think Diamante makes two different coals, I'm talking about the ones in the BAG. They're finger coals, not the immitation Jap silvers in the box. I see the ones you're talking about, those aren't the ones I mean. I just did a search, it doesn't look like they're available on the net. HOWEVER I do remember posting about a source some months ago. Do a forum search for "diamante" and find my old posts. King Mo
Hows it going people, Nothing much happening during the festive period, my shisha smoking is on hold while I sort out some customs problems I've been having. (gotta have the items returned and sent again with different labelling and see if i dont get unlucky next time). Hope you're good Mathazar. Mo is alive and well, and I constantly keep a watch on the forums. Goin through a bit of a quiet period, but i'll be definately alot more active when i start smoking some new flavours Nice to see ur reviews on the other brands, helps make a decision on what to order from the states, as its a bitch of a process arranging it (especially with the customs nonsense i've had recently). I'm sure we'll all get posting when people start bashing our favourite flavours again, and new ones are reviewed. keep up the great work.
King Mo
incidentally, i always use the cheapass 'swift lite' coal discs. if you are gettin them orange, then you'll get a great smoke in my opinion. waste of time using the other stuff, which is good for cafe's , but certainly too much of a hassle for the home or portable user. I do feel though mathazar that the blow torch is overkill for the cheapass coals. I mean, I personally use my trusty zippo lighter on it (i think apoc mentioned zippo in another thread), and it works just fine. The things are practically explosive anyway and light in seconds. After it sparks at one end, then i leave it in the shisha tray to spark everywhere throughout. I then pick it up again once it stops sparking, and use the zippo on it all over, with a little blowing here and there to make sure it's orange. within 45 seconds, it's completely fully lit and ready to go, and when it's orange, it does a great job without the hassle of natural coal (which are great, but not suitable for everyday use). and very little taste at all. blow torch would obviously be fuss-free, but is a more expensive solution for the cheapass coals (i like to call them that ) i tried jap coals for a while ,but although i liked them initially, i found them to be time consuming, and DID actually have a taste which i initially missed. So i'd avoid them.
