Strange taste

probably your hose. what kinda hose do you have.

get a mya washable hose. you can actually run water through them to clean them out. most bad tastes from clean hookahs come from the hose.

and i would suggest either a socialsmoke egyptian or a mya of some sort.

Thanks buddy, I thought it was the hose too. Honestly, I don't really know what brand of hose this is, but I don't see what isn't washable about it. My friend has the same one, and runs water through his all the time with no negative effect.

I run warm water through mine, and then blow it out with compressed air to dry it quickly

describe the taste you are experiencing to help us out. Is a an anise taste, just a bad aftertaste?

Try cleaning everything with Lemon Juice this will kill the left over tastes.

Oops, I wrote this thread up once and then accidentally x'd it down. I'm not sure how to describe the taste, but it's pretty sickening. It's a bit similar to rust, but not quite

it looks fairly washable but looks can be deceiving. some (most not marketed as washable) either fall apart in water or have steel wire running down the inside of the hose to keep it from collapsing when sucked through. when washed this can rust in non washable hoses. the washable ones either have stainless steel wire or plastic. its not a terribly good hookah anyways.

Your hose probably isnt washable and has rusted out. Thats probably why it tastes like rust.

The taste was there even when I took the hose off, and breathed in through the hose port.

However, I cleaned it out with lemon juice, and besides the stains left on my old desk, the taste seems to be gone. I'll see what happens when I smoke tonight, thanks guys.

Long time ago, we used to smoke out of a rusted hose (When it was the only one I had) and aside from the black chunks, it never tasted funny...I think the flavor come from accumulated crap...Its rusted anyways, just run water through it.
