Vinson
Two Words. Japanese Charcoals. These things are by far beyond words. Break off two little chunks, drop them on the stove, and put it on your foil. Instantly you can hear your shisha cooking, but NOT burning. Not once have I ever tasted charcoal or burning shisha. And I've smoked at least 4 different brands of Shisha and used 3 different bowls / foils using these coals. Amazing heat. I've tried golden charcoals, three kings, three queens, and pretty much every other quick-lite coal. They should not even exist with a product like JapCoals on the market. It will be the only coal I use for the rest of my smoking days. Period amen. -Vinny

worr lord
How hard would they be to light without the use of a stove or propane torch?

Vinson
What's so funny ERICA!? Haha, these coals really are awesome. I had to overreact a lot to get people to take my word! Quick-lites, mehhhhh. Okay, I understand if you have no choice. But there is nothing like dropping a phunnel bowl full of your favorite shisha and smoking it through a tasteless supply of heat! I've had so many of my parties ruined by burnt / poo tasting shisha
Erica
haha It was just realyl funny how excited you were!!! I love my jap coals too, don't get me wrong, and if I had a choice would never ever use quick lights for the rest of my life! but yea....
Vinson
Hah, well I am hard to please and by God. IT HAPPENED! Caramellanne
I dont know...I really like my nour finger coals...Practically smell free and, they last alot longer than the japanese coals. Dont get me wrong I like the japanese coals too, especially because of the way that they ash...But I have been much more successful with the finger coals..And with 3 kings, I wont use them or any quicklites because they burn out too fast and they are all basically made from straight chemicals. At least, that is what I have been told by several hookahteers!
DizzyGuy
jap coals are great... worr, use a butane lighter, *or a regular lighter if you wanna wait a bit...* and light one of the black sides... put it hot side up and wait for a few minutes and it'll light itself

worr lord
Natural coals piss me off to no end. Since I have a glass top stove and no torch, I have no way of lighting them. Would I be able to light these jap coals with a lighter, or other similar open flame?
aronparsons
Sorry to hijack the thread, but what type (brand) of jap coals should I shoot for?
Canary's are good, but the Easy Lite brand is the way to go if you're frugal; I'd say they're 90% as good as the Canary brand and less than half the price. The only thing that bothers me about the Easy Lite charcoals is they have an odor while lighting, but it doesn't carry into the session.
Vinson
The easy lite coals are the "Japanese Coals" made in China right? I've seen those... about $6 a box opposed to $15, which in my opinion is pretty damn expensive. But then again... the only thing I plan on smoking starting in the next few days is Qemah, Golden Fakher, and possibly Starbuzz. May as well blow all my cash instead of half-assing it  -Vinny
DizzyGuy
Yes... chinese imitation of real jap coals... but from what I've heard, they pretty much work just as good... and it's a helluva lot more worth it if you are strapped for cash. Vinson
I am definitely low on cash, but I can't stand getting products that suck, then they just sit around my house and collect dust. -Vinny

Yonatan
i use RedStar coals (israeli company) they're the best quicklites ever... Smells like shit when you light em' (but that's why god invented the "close window" function) and afterwards they burn perfectly, no odor, perfect heat, no taste... they cost around 1 dollar for 6 coals. and yet again, israel just pwnd all of you foreign hookah smokers in the butt. DizzyGuy
I've always wanted to try natural coals... but vinson, the easy lights don't suck... no smell, good heat... easy to light.

DizzyGuy
Well, most natural coals you have to break I believe... have you tried the japanese style coals? But yeah, if you can provide a pic of the packaging, that'd be great
