Bondal929
This question might sound kinda simple but im a little confused. I was wondering how your hookahs smell/taste after you clean them. I normally just wash the base and stem and bowl with some water. I blow through my hose and then wash it out. Even after I do this, I can still smell/taste the remnants of my last smoke in my stem and hose. The bowl also smells like cendy. I was just wondering whether this is normal, and if it would effect the smoke.
DizzyGuy
Try lemon juice or a baking soda/water mixture and wash it out with brushes and water... if you use lemon juice... do about half and half or so with some water and let it sit... the hookah tends to hold smells sometiems. And with your hose, I suggest hooking it up to your vaccum for a minute or two... It works wonders on my hose
Bondal929
Thanks, but I do use lemon juice and vinegar sometimes but it still has this taste. I mean i can get the taste to go away, but its never smelled like it did when i first got it. Is this normal or have you guys been able to clean it so it smells like it did when you first got it? the bowl is the part that smells the strongest. DizzyGuy
Take a drag off of your hose when it's not connected to the hookah, do you still get that taste?

DizzyGuy
Ok... well, good news is that it's hopefuly just your hose and not your whole pipe... First off, is your hose washable? Or do you know?
pavlakos
its probably just one of those realy strong flavors that tend to haunt your hookah for a few sessions.(mint, cinnamon, rose, etc...) i usually just smoke it out of the hookah.
DizzyGuy
in another thread he said it was a part of every session he's had and it tasted like vomit... i think that's someing a bit more than just a strong flavor
MN Hookah
The hoses really never smoke the same over time, it's collects build up just like anything else would, I personally like to take my huge aircompressor and send a few shots through it to get any gunk out. I replace my hoses on a fairly regular basis, my feeling is you spend how much for tobacco, what's another couple bucks to get a new hose, and preserve the taste . I'm thinking of getting hoses to use just for some of my favorite flavors, or I should say started doing this.

Bondal929
haha naw its not about the cleaning. This was the first time i ever smoked out of this hookah. I scrubbed it for a while after a cleaned with lemon and vinegar. I just wanted to know if your bowls have a slight smell of candy and make sure that everythings not supposed to smell and taste like the day you got it. Sonthert
Yeah, there is a very specific smell associated with hookah pieces that have been touched by smoke. It varies based on the foundation of the brand(s) you are using. That persistant smell is why many people replace equipment that isn't dead yet...if they're clean-freaks. Sayishere
QUOTE (Erica)Yea, I have a hose for Capp, Vanilla, minty flavors.. another for sweet fruity.. and another for spearmint. Sweet idea Tastes do mix together which ruin the overall taste after a while.
web250
Lemon juice can kill that characteristic "hookah" smell. 400 posts...weeeee
Macho555
Thats why I soak my hookah before scrubbing it, it always manages to nuke all those smells and gunk. The hoses do get crapped out though <_> I wish there was a way to scrub a hose. Like a mini-rooter, lol.
