ztephen
You've probably seen it before. They make a ring out foil and put it on top of the foil directly on top of the bowl. then they put another piece of foil above the ring. How does it affect the smoke? heres a vid of it http://youtube.com/watch?v=s5hsfMyuKH8 thanks

kitefanatic
That's a sh*tload of foil! I'd be curious to try it out. To bad my German sucks.
PersianPride
I think it is to reflect the heat back into the tobacco rather then letting the bowl absorb it.

crunchyorphan
Im smoking my hookah with this foil ring contraption. It is working pretty well. The smoke thickness is pretty much the same, its nice because i put one big coal on top and dont have to move it around or fiddle with it to stop the tobacco from burning. A little extra work, but i am definatley gonna switch to this method.
Calcartman
yeah im gonna skip that. Ill stick with the simple foil over tobacco, holes, then coal.
xpimpitox
interesting method but thats way too much foil/effort lol. i originally thought it was another method i saw that some guys made called "a shisha movie" until i actually saw the video. i think ill stick to the traditional style. worr lord
Using a different foil pattern and heat management I got an incredible smoke session just now.... Absolutely incredible. I'll try this set up when I get more coals, as of tonights session I'm fresh out
Scheetz
seen it, not the video but have had a bowl packed that way. just keeps more heat on the shisha. didnt notice any differences from a regular packing. Just a waste of foil. Tight video though.

That can change how your experience with that style is. I use 2 3kings piggy backed (stacked on top of each other) and have great sessions every time I pack a bowl. Its more than 1 coal but less than 2 side by side. You should try that and see how you like it if you arn't doing this already.
pboyle
My question is, where did that ring come from? It was just sorta.. on the table the whole time and then bam- he uses it. No mention of what it is, and the video quality leaves me with little room to guess. It isn't just a simple ring though. It has some sort of triangle spoke-y things in it. Almost like he took some rims off of a pimped out toy car. anybody know?

malakas
Haha, I had this discussion with ionadiss (sp?) when I first joined the forum. Malaka is greek for "wanker" but Malakas is Filipino for "strong". I'm a Filipino guy lol, although I am quite particular for Greek food.

However, last night I only had one coal (Golden quick light). Basically, I put a line of larger holes down the middle in a line, and medium holes on one side of the line, with tiny ones on the other. When the tobacco started to get good and hot with thick clouds I took the wind cover off (using an 'Ultimate Bowl'), and then gradually moved the coal around to the small holes, at which time I put the cover back on. Squeezed an entire FULL bowl pack out of one coal, with almost no unused tobacco at the end, no harshness or loss of flavor throughout the smoke. pavlakos
sorry for the dbl post, but is lining the bowl with foil realy necessary? i think the guy in the video did that just because he has a metal bowl and its easier to clean that way.
crunchyorphan
i like lining the bowl because it makes for an easy clean up. No scraping out crusty tobacco.
