Whodat1004
So I bought my first hookah and realized its a bitch to get the smell out of everything. What do you guys use to get your hookah smelling new again?
Skimo
Vinegar and/or lemon juice, after that just rinse it really well and it should smell good lol
SanguineSolitude
and use cleaning brushes.
entrailsgalore
usually I just use hot water and a brush. But for a good deep cleaning I will dismantle the entire hookah, and let every part soak in hot water for maybe 30 min-an hour. It breaks up any residue build up that the brush might not normally get. Then I brush like normal, and when Im done, I rinse every part off with COLD water, because metal retains heat for awhile and its nasty as hell smokeing out of a hot hookah lol. Then I let every piece dry for about 30 min then I reassemble and then smoke out again! The good thing about hookahs, is that they can last a long time if you take care of them. So if you constantly buy new hoses( which I do) its like smoking out of a new hookah all the time.
Macho555
I always soak mine in lemon juice and water for an half hour, than scrub the hell out of it. Always ends up shiny and clean and tastless.
CaliforniaRose
One Word: Dishwasher I learned that here, done it twice, and well its just plain awesome!
worr lord
I completely take mine apart, and let it all sit in lemon juice+water (except for the hose), and then let it sit in straight water for a little while before rinsing it really well
Johnny_D
I'm afraid i'm a bit old fashioned on this one! Take the thing apart :- Rubber's i soak in a tiny amount of bleach, washing up liquid and warm water. Bowl goes in to soak with the Rubber's Stem I use a mixture of Bleach & washing Liquid (I use the same to clean my tiled floor(What idiot thought of using light coloured tiles?)) /goes to slap Mrs JD In the stem i spray the mix down the stem and then Scrub like hell! Whilst Scrubbing the Vase is in a soak of washing up liquid and warm water. Rinse the stem out, Then dry it (Using a hairdryer works a treat) Scrub out the vase, leave upside to drain. Job Done! jah-soul-jah
i clean it with simple toothpaste and a brush. but you have to wash out your hookah with a lot of hot water after brushing. works great.

Calcartman
How often do you guys do these cleanings? Cause I wash my hookah out after every smoke; but I just wash everything with water, and once a week or so in lemon juice.
Johnny_D
QUOTE (Whodat1004)My buddy recomended the dishwasher thing. How many people actually do that and how well does it work? I have one minor problem with the idea of using a dishwasher.... How does the water get down the stem and give it a monster clean? I, personally, don't think you can beat some soap and elbow grease. CaliforniaRose
First off I set the dishwasher to heat dry, take it out immeaditly and put it upside down on my drying rack, so that water flows out. I've used it twice and I'm very happy so far.
rxsleven
yah my mya's stem is a multi-piece so i just take it apart. if you set it up on the bottom rack it will get a good beating. dishwashers also make your base stronger since setting glass in an enviroment of extreme heat over time is known to toughen the molecules. i think thats why i've never had my base break when i put ice in it.(please god dont let that stament jinx me)
