Scalliwag
I don't know about you guys, but washimg a bowl with lemon juice, vinegar, etc, I can still smell my bowls. I decided to put my least favorite bowl in a bowl of water with about 10% vinegar and put it in the microwave. Fortunately this went much better than the lighting the coals in the microwave experiment Even the dog runs out of the room when he sees me heading to the microwave!!! He has more sense than I do Anyways I put it on for 4 minutes on high and it was at a real good boil when it shut off. I pulled the bowl out and let it cool. Pulled the bowl out and rinsed it in cool water and sniffed and it had no smell to it. People may already do this. I just have not read that. lwieise
Does it get the residue off? Thats the problem that I have...on the upper lip of my small bowl I have a bunch of baked on shisha juice. It leaves a horrible smell but not one that I can readily detect while smoking. I know it isn't good though. Nice work on training the dog though. Shavo989
Nice one, Scalli. I think I'm gonna try that one out.
pavlakos
smart dog uve got.lol. ur method sounds interesting, unlike anything ive ever heard.ill try that. and as for crusty residue, i just grab a sharp knife and scrape everything off after each smoke.then i rinse it wipe it with a napkin, and repeat, but instead of a knife the second time i use an SOS pad.works wonders... Scalliwag
I had smoked Tangiers Kasmir Peach and mint regularly in this bowl ceaned because from reading on the forum people suggest using particular bowls and hoses for flavors. I also read so many people saying they could not get rid of tastes even after they clean all their stuff real well. I decided to start sniffing bowls I already thought I had cleaned well and could smell them fairly well. Since that just happened to be the bowl I liked the least I decided to make it the guinea pig. The inside of the bowl looking in it from the bottom have some pretty evasive areas and my guess is funky shit likes to hide in areas you can't see. I figured one of two things would happen, it would be clean or explode like a coal I actually waited for Ms. Scalli to leave so I could clean it up and blame anything that broke, like the microwave, on one of the kids Glad it would for you! The smell of the vinegar when you first open the door kind of scares you but it goes away pretty fast.
Macho555
I just tried it, worked like a charm. I'm glad it didn't explode or anything. XDD Totally new smelling, its great.
Scalliwag
you could probably boil them on the stove but you would have to smell vinegar the whole time and it would take longer. I am gathering all my bowls and nuking about 1/2 of them at a time. If somethings goes wrong I would hate to lose all but my ugly one
xpimpitox
ima have to give this a whirl soon. i have 4 bowls that havent been cleaned ever and they all smell kindy funky. never really bothered heavy duty cleanin em since they dont really affect my sessions. worr lord
I clean my bowls after each use, and then wash the hookah and all parts with lemon juice once a week . My bowls have never kept a residual smell
NorthEastSmoker
boiling them in plain water on the stove does the same thing; it's always worked for me
Macho555
The boiling managed to take off that residue goo that burned to the bowl too. I always hated having it there, even though it didn't do anything. Yay clean bowls!
Shavo989
I just tried this one on my standard MYA bowl and it worked wonders! Other then the scorch marks around the rim of the bowl it could pass for brand new. You should come out with a DIY hookah tips book, Scalli. You could advertise it on early-morning television after the natural sures guy and before the guy with the book about how to live to 150 by eating seaweed. Once I find a good source for ginsu knives I'm gonna! Research says unless you give away a free knife set you don't get anywhere on there They make brass brushes that look like a wooden toothbrush. One of those should take care of those stains if anything is going to work. I am mainly only concerned to neutrolize the smell for my next smoke session though. Shavo989
Yeah, I don't really care about how the bowl looks, as that dosen't affect my smoke. But I'm gonna boil my bowl every couple of weeks now that I know how well it works at destroying lingering smells. I would soak it in a sink of lemon water for hours and not get such good results. Thanks, Scalli.
worr lord
I've got thick burned stuff around the edges of my new Phunnel bowl . I'm too scared to scrub it, so I'll give this a try
