QUOTE (Sean Armbrust (ASU))
im gettin some tangiers tobacco thursday. This shit is suppose to give you a crazy buzz. It isnt washed like most tobacco so it had a lot of nicotine so when you get it you are suppose to leave it exposed in the air for 4 hours to give it a humidity shock. They have two styles even-- caffeinated and non.. designed by some dude in Cali who thought every other hookah tobacco sucked so he made his own and now sells it.. hookahcompany.com is a good place to buy it

Just some clarification. Leaving the tobacco out is what you do to the tobacco to acclimate it to your current climate where you live. You do this because the tobacco could have suffered humidity shock during its move to a new location. In a way, Tangiers is saying that in San Diego, Ca where he makes the tobacco, the local climate can vary greatly from your current location, which many times can screw with the tobacco. So leaving it out for a few hours helps the tobacco become adjusted to its new home.

Some people have found that acclimating the tobacco is not necessary, while others finds that it helps. I have a feeling that the people who don't require acclimation for their tangiers to smoke well, live somewhere where the humidty/climate is similar to San Diego.

Also, hookahcompany.com is a great place to buy tangiers. But another good option would be to order it from HookahKings, where they sell it in 100gm packs. You never know if you're going to love the tobacco, so buying it in smaller quantities before fully commiting is sometimes a safe course of action. I just got in my order of Tangiers: Blue gumball, Red Tea, Orange Soda and F-Line Cocoa. So far all have been amazing with the new funnel bowl, but I think my favorite is the f-line cocoa.

but at the same time tangiers still doesnt wash their tobacco

What is “humidity shock” and what causes it?
Some manufacturers “wash” their tobacco to remove nicotine from it. Tangiers doesn’t “wash” its tobacco. Products that contain nicotine are sensitive to the effects of the humidity in the air. The tobacco will absorb moisture from the air slowly until it becomes “comfortable” (equilibrium is the chemistry word). If the humidity in the air is different than what the tobacco become comfortable with, then the tobacco will try to get comfortable again. If the weather changes or you open a package of tobacco up for the first time, this change may occur. During this period of change, if you try to smoke it during this period, you may find that it:
A) “burns the throat” or makes it feel tickly. This happens when the tobacco is comfortable with drier air than the air is when it is smoked.
cool.gif Flavor dies out very quickly or seems weak or varies greatly during smoking. This happens when the tobacco is comfortable with more humid air than when it is smoked.
Remember, allow newly opened tobacco 4 hours or so to get comfortable with the surrounding air.
When you isolate your tobacco from the surrounding air, it protects it from strange or foreign odors, but it also prevents the tobacco from getting comfortable with the humidity in the air.
If your tobacco always seems to be off one way or the other, just leave it slightly open. So air can get at it.

Huh? You started your last post with 'but at the same time tangiers still doesn't wash their tobacco'. Just confused.

Then you, from what I can tell, found a more scientific reason for humidity shock and pasted it here for us. If you want to show that you are quoting something, simply use the [ quote][ /quote] tags. If you want to quote someone specific, add a ="persons name" right after the first quote. Honestly, not trying to be a dick, but your last reply is pretty confusing.
