sambookamax
Sup Everyone! I am new to hookah and this forum...I have an addictive personality...and I gotta say, I LOVE the Hookah!!! (just quit smoking cigarettes about 2 months ago) My "Main" question for this thread is... "I am having some problems getting thick clouds? What is the secret???" This is what I bought / have... --------------------------------------- Mya QT Extra Washable Hose Extra Bowl - although not as deep as the one that came with the MyaQT Romman Lemonwood Coals (500g) Golden Coals - Box Al Waha 250 g (jar) after nine (mint/chocolate) Al Waha 250 g (jar) california dream Al Waha 250 g (jar) orange cream ---------------------------------------- I LOVE the After Nine! I am considering trading the california dream and orange cream if I can't figure out how to get some good clouds outta them...I think I am just doing something wrong though??? I am also not diggin' the Romman Coals and considering trading those as well... Hit me up, and help me figure this out please!!! Thanks! & Cheers! Calcartman
Well if you do trade the orange cream, i will definitely trade you for it! As for getting clouds, um, put shisha in bowl, place foil on bowl, poke holes in foil, place coals around edges. The real trick is spreading the heat around. You want a lot of heat, but not in any one place. I've never used Romman coals, and are the goldens quicklights or japanese-style? I don't use quick lights, but if they're the japanese style (silver coated bars of 4), break up a bar and light 3 pieces, and put them on the very outside of the bowl, equally spaced, and that should get it going. You will have to add or remove heat as it suits you, but thats how I start it (using the normal mya bowl). For the Mod bowl, the same method should work just as well
Macho555
I don't know anything about rommon coals, but all I can tell you about clouds is HEAT MANAGEMENT. Just keep trying!~ Eventually you'll find the sweet spot that enables you to make clouds that everyone will be jealous of. It's not too hard...you'll get it. Try one coal, two coals, 1.5 coals, wind cover, no wind cover, etc. Breaking coals... I personally use one entire 3 Kings coal, with a wind cover, and I get great clouds. Barnzy02
I had the romman coals and had a bit of a difficult time with them, they imparted a horrible charcoal taste on most of the bowls i smoked with them. and they chunks they came in were not easily breakable and when broken would not break into pieces that really worked well with smokin, they would roll around or wouldn't lie flat on the head. They need to be lit for close to 5 minutes before they are ready, make sure they are red and burning all the way around them.
sambookamax
yeah, I had those things burning pretty good, I would let them burn on high/stove for about 5 minutes, turning them... ...in my research I found that they were great, but difficult... Yeah, when I researched the Orange Dream, my hopes were HIGH!!! I really want to figure that stuff out, cuz I bet it will be awesome!

ztephen
does it matter how often I take a puff from the hookah, in regards of keeping the smoke thick?
evlspcmk
not to my experience as long as the coals burning well every time u take a puff the chambers just gunna fill right up again with smoke un less your breathing so softley it just sucks up the smoke and not make the bubbling motion to refill it
EvansLight
The smoke you see is cause by evaporating the glycerin in the tobacco then it turning into a nice pretty vapor. The hotter you get the tobacco without burning the more glycerin you evaporate. Also the colder the base or even the stem (hence the reason ice chamber hookahs help on smoke thickness) the more you condense into vapor, giving you thicker clouds of smoke. Also it depends on how your body handles the smoke, and how you smoke in general. Some peoples body absorbs alot of it faster leaving less to blow out. Also how much you suck in, how long you hold it in your lungs, and if you double inhale, all play a factor in how much, or how little smoke you get from your hookah. To get the thickest smoke for me, i grab me some starbuzz of any flavour, get it bruning as hot as i can without, well, burning and i keep alot of ice in my base, along with keeping the base in a bucket of ice water. Since the bucket is wide open i can continue to add more ice as the ice in the base and bucket melt, keeping it cool for the whole session. Also if you can get an ice chamber hookah, they work wonders for smoke thickness.
