LUXOR HOOKAHS
Persian: Looks great!!! Be carefull of the foil glued to the vase, I had one like that and I scratched the foil with the cleaning brush. Tried to repair with glue but the glue turned yellow. Again, looks great, very traditional and authentic!!!! LUXOR
PersianPride
Yeah I don't quite now what that stuff, its sort of like gold leaf only obviously silver, but its very secure. Even tried scratching it off with a pocket knife and nothing happened.
LUXOR HOOKAHS
I asked one of the Lebanese merchants that I buy from.He said what they do is glue small plastic shapes directly to the glass vase and then they apply glue to where they want the foil to stick and wrap it with the foil. At that point they realy press down to get all the foil stuck to the glass. Then it is finished off with a wipe of black stain (paint) for a burnished look, and the final strp is to glue the little chain around the edges. As you can see this takes some time, thats why these vases are more expensive than regular glas vases.
Captain Courageous
wow, I do like that... it's a good change to see such a hookah after seeing so many other more common ones these days. I like the detail of it in the photograph.

Like I said I like them a lot more then just the plain glass base but what is a little crap is that I can't see where the water level reaches the stem. So I'm sort of going my instinct :? PersianPride
Ok might as well put this in the same thread I just love this camera . This is my second most prized possession its a silk inlaid tapestry of one of Omar Khayyam's poems. I live in a crappy neighbourhood and have nightmares about it being stolen but I can't live without it.

Beautiful painting and pipe, by the way.

I just went back and re-read that. It's not even a painting at all. For a tapestry that's even more skilled work. I can see why you treasure it so much.
