high_society
Just to clarify. I wanted to apologize to social smoke for posting their email, I was just excited to hear any news about a new bowl and thought that this place would be a great place to discuss ideas. In no way I was meaning to bring up heat towards them, I really enjoy social smoke.
ghostofdavid
Ali, that was a tactful email. Please continue to be a prescence in the forum because the more vendors we have that have positive voices, the better.
HookahDuck
Social Smoke, as a person who has done a lot of business with your company, it may mean something to you that because you do not sell Tangiers products, I have begun to purchase from your competitors that do much more frequently. A large percentage of your business (this forum), feels the same way. Just a little tid bit.
Scalliwag
I did not get into the argument side of the discussion because it is not my place. Hopefully all sides know that most of us here would rather avoid that part. I do know that the phunnel is hands down the best I have seen by far. I have personally met Ali and he went way out of the way to help us with a great party. Eric has always been really nice to me too. It's not the first time I have had friends get sideways with each other but it always sucks. A LOT of things get crazy in this world of text that most of us have got to know each other in. Those of us that had the opportunity to meet each other at the party and put faces to names, and better yet get a feel for the people behind the text have a great advantage when we communicate here now. I know that I have said some things, well actually Shiner, that were meant one way and taken another way that can get some feelings hurt and take a downhill slide from there. So remember, if I ever say anything to piss any of you off, it was actually SHINER!!!
Scheetz
well, Social. I am not banging your company or your new product you will start selling. I was just being sarcastic. So at least you understood it was a harmless idea. I love your company, I would say about 95% of my purchases are through you. If I cant find it on your site then I go elsewhere. I do feel you should sell Tangiers because its a pain in the ass making 100g starbuzz orders with coals and having to pay a separate company plus shipping for a few bags of Tangiers. I love starbuzz, but I cant justify spending 20+ bucks on a container, hence why you offer the 100g bags. Which is probably the single smartest idea any company could do. I think you should keep Tangiers an option. I don't see why a high selling product would be refused because Tang doesn't have the same business strategy. Sure he has his view points, and sure I have never dealt with him on a B2B relationship but I cant imagine he would be that bad. Meh....
djnick
if the guy doesn't wanna carry tangiers tobacco and bowls then let him be. Its his business, not yours. Obviously there are many channels to get tangiers stuff and SS is not one of them. If they feel that not carrying tangiers will hurt their sales then they will carry it. Otherwise if they dont want to carry it they have their own reasons and they dont have to explain anything to any of you guys. This is basic business 101 guys come on
Scalliwag
Right now I get my Starbuzz from a place only a few miles from me that SS is their wholesaler, and I get my Tangiers from MNHookah. They're all great people.

This is basic business 101 guys come on thanks for pointing that out. Your still missing our point. They dont carry Tang for a reason, thats understood. The owner doesn't like E, thats understood. Our point is, we buy from someone else because they carry Tang along with the other shisha we want to smoke for basically the same price with the same discount. They are losing out of customers this way. We are trying to inform them of, which of course they already know. They obviously have a marketing mix and know what helps and doesn't. But as I said before, I would rather buy it all from one then 2 or 3 orders from multiple. Why because shipping is less and wait time is less. I use the JIT for my shisha. I dont order a month ahead of time. When I am about to run out I order so its here when I am on my last bowl. Having to wait for 3 orders to show up is a pain in the ass. EvansLight
Yea from my talk with Ali at the party, which asking about tangiers stuff was one of the questions i first shot at him, it was just diffrences in how they work, and how SS likes to do its buisness, that has kept them from getting into buying tangiers. I fully understand there reason, and as much as you think them not having it is a big dent in there buisness, its not. They still are a great vendor, and i dont mind ordering from diffrent places. With scott doing what hes doing, i now have only 2 places i need to shop to get all i want, MNHookahs and SocialSmoke.
Lakemonster
Damn shame, guys....... Bit of misconstruction has lead to all this. I know this is "dredging", but it needs to be addressed. SS has played a really "cricket" game in this industry. As it would seem to me at this point, they have decided keep the game on the defense...... they wouldnt need to do that if there hadnt been a bit of "fronting" them out for nothing at all, in reality. Its stuff like this that keeps solid vendors from contributing to the forum regularly. Good vendors are there to sell quality goods and service, not get the consumer base twisted up in business politics..... but if you back then into a corner........ the answer you get is likely the one you want to hear the least. For one I think its dissapointing to see a vendor like SS get "witchhunted" over stuff that is speculative and far from confirmed..... especially when I have seen first hand how gracious they are and INVOLVED, personally, with the hookah community when possible. It would be very easy to just be a faceless entity and not have time to shake hands and smoke with the people.... or even welcome you to their place of business and take time out of a busy day to fill a tiny order....and spend time chattin..... especially when its not a storefront situation. I suppose that my post comes off as biased.... and in all fairness it is. They have won my business directly and indirectly thru quality, hospitality and behavior to me and others that I have translated to something akin to friendship if not fully so. With that said, you should know that I run my own business as well (far from hookah related) and I dont get "all the business in town" either... I try to stay "cricket" myself.... but when I feel that I have been misrepresented to my clientele by a competitor, I dont mind being frank about the situation either. People have come and people have gone in my game here, after 9 years, I am still here. Theres a reason for that... and I think SS has the same reason.
