alyehoud
I just bought a new hose a few weeks ago because my unwashable hose was washed (before I knew I couldnt...). Anyway, after two uses - it has begun to rust. (orange water comes out of the tube when I put water in it, as well as little chunks of some metallic, yet sandstone-soft seeming substance. What should I do? I bought it from HookahCompany.com Plus I'm about to smoke, can I still use it since its only a little rust? *cry*
Lakemonster
Ok.... did you clean out the tube before you put the new water in? The tube requires cleaning. Suggest brush.... and Lemon Juice or some Vinegar.
alyehoud
I have cleaned it, but only with vinegar (one time) and lemon juice another. I never used a brush in it... i guess ill try that....
yashman19
Just as a warning, even though a hose is washable, doesn't mean you won't get gunk in the hose. If you are washing your hose after each session, I'd say that is your reason. Washable hoses are ok to rinse out etc, but you want to make sure it has time to dry out completely before you start using it again. I'd say if you are that paranoid about it, wash your hose once per week. Anything more than that is just overkill. I have washable hoses that I haven't even washed once yet since bringing it home from the store. The only time you REALLY need to wash a hose is when water gets into it. Then the inside of the hose gets wet, and will build up black gunk from smoking. Like Lake said, rinse it out with lemon juice, then hang dry it for atleast a day, preferably more. Then when its fully dry and you don't get water into it anymore, you shouldn't have to wash it for a while.
alyehoud
I am a little anal, but on a side, I've only used it two or three times and thus washed it accordingly. Furthermore, I haven't used it in over a week now so thats not part of it either. I'll just wash it less, and be a little more attentive I guess..... Thanks! Macho555
You probably getting the tar from your smoke coming from your hose. I guess its a dumb question, but do you have a ALINK to the hose you bought? I know you said its a Mya, but im curious.
Joey32b
I'm convinced that not all Mya hoses are washable. I have one that rusted out. This is the one I have: http://www.myasaray.com/store/item.asp?ITE...EPARTMENT_ID=
[LB]
wash your hose thoroughly with all the techniques people mention above- lemon juice and hot water and all that jazz. And then use the hose smacking tenchnique, where your grab your hose by the head and base- coke up a litte to make sure your not hitting the head or plug in part on the ground- and smack the crap outta the hose on the ground to shake out any little particles- then rinse again and finally suspend for about 30 minutes from an elevated point so as to get the drip out. My washable myas have seen maybe 100+ sessions and are still clean and smooth after being washed. Try a full out rinse of them
Yonatan
STOP BUYING THESE SHIT HOSES, EVERYONE TAKE $5 BUCKS TO HOME DEPOT AND GET LIKE 9-10 METERS OF THIS: I SWEAR TO GOD, YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT IF YOU LISTEN TO ME. ASK FOR "CLEAR AIR CONDITION TUBING". IF YOU FEEL THAT IT'S UGLY OR TOO SIMPLE, TAKE AN ADDITIONAL $4 TO OFFICE DEPOT AND GET SOME SPARKLY GLUE AND PAPER FLOWERS. THE TUBE IS MADE OUT OF SOME PLASTIC-RUBBER THING WITH NO METAL AT ALL, WHICH MEANS NO RUSTING PERIOD. PLUS IT'S SEETHROUGH SO IF THERE IS ANY GUNK IN THE HOSE ITS EASY TO SPOT. I LOVE CAPSLOCK. GOOD NIGHT. edit w00t 100th post

ghostofdavid
What is the size of the tubing in inches?
DizzyGuy
Actually, Yon, I have a ghetto hose and I prefer my nice MYA to it. And Ghost, try a 3/4" on the outside, 1/2 on the inside hose. I think that's what mine was... but best thing to do, take your grommet to the store with you and you can fit it better... or if you have a small stem section that you can take in, take that and the grommet and fit it. Most important thing about the ghetto hose, make sure it's food/water grade.

Sonthert
I have tried all manner of hoses from get-toe to others and a Mya or two. Leather hoses are the best...just don't wash them.
