Family/Tamily Train Japanese coals?

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever heard of the brand? The owner of the tobacco store I buy my gear off of recommend them. I made sure they were made in Japan, and I think 60-70 squares (in blocks of 6) came in the package. Lit up in about 5 minutes on the burner, and didnt add any flavour to the smoke.

Just wondering if anyone has used them, and what their thoughts were.

Oh, one last thing. After they were lit, the silver coating seems to flake off and disintigrate into ash if I grind them between my fingers after the coals have lit. Is that typical of Japanese coals (just want to make sure it doesnt have the faux-covering like some of the Chinese ones are alleged to have)
