E.G.
Personally, I listen to whatever I'm in the mood for, which doesn't narrow it down much. Usually mellow, though -- experimental stuff of all ilk, classical, jazz, ambient, the dreaded cover-all "world..." Pretty much anything other than metal. Someone had posted links to dl'able Mid East music a while back -- anyone recall where it was? (Or was that an email list, I forget...) As for the visulizer, I'm on Windoze, and I adore WinAmp's plugins. Tons of visulaizer presets are avilable, ranging from trippy swirly things to Tie-Fighter racing! IMHO, El-Vez (or El-Viz), AVSociety, S_KuPeRS, Visbot, Tonic, and Whacko are consistently the best authors/collectives as far as viusulization plugins go. I also like the skinning feature -- my player looks like an old-school stereo!E.G.

Mathazar
Okay, I'll stay on topic I listen to Opera (The Three Tenors, Andrea Bocelli, & Cecilia Bartoli), bossa nova (Getz/Gilberto - The Girl From Ipanema), Frank Sinatra (Duets), Holly Cole Trio, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk & Sonny Rollins, Nathalie Cole (Unforgettable). Basically, I pretty much listen to Opera & Jazz. Sometimes a little Rockabilly & Blues

Ghaleon
Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel. I'm all about the old school folk music. It adds an entirely new level of meaning to the word 'chill.'
piperdown
Baroque classical, old-school jazz, classic rock, celtic (see sig below) - that plus hookah equals a great way to mellow out after a stressful day at work.
Highpockets
Wide variety of stuff, try to keep it chill though. Gipsy Kings is a favorite. Been going with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan lately too.

Highpockets
He was the most important Pakistani qawaali singer, very prolific. The music is chant-like, very soothing and hypnotic.

Mathazar
I'm ordering some music from Amazon, and it consists of Freddy King playing the blues and The Ventures playing Surf Music. I'm not really heavily into blues, but Freddy King is AWESOME, and I'm TOTALLY into The Ventures, specifically from the CD......"Walk, Don't Run"

HookahCulture
More about music.... We had a music threat some months ago, it was great! Yeah Mazika is good as well as this one..... http://www.zorona.com/English/music/singers.cfm Right click and save songs. As far as surf music, get THE MERMEN. They're from NorCal and as far as I know they still do shows. Look for "The Whale Song" or any KFJC session recordings. Speaking of KFJC, listen to Phil Dirt's BIG SURF on Sat. evenings. xblakex
I can't believe that nobody has said radiohead yet. Kid A, Amnesiac, or Hail to the Theif. That Bloc Party is really good, thanks for the tip jamie. P.S. itunes visualizer rocks my world. EVERYONE should watch that when they're smoking. MR Bubble
The only one I get mellowed out with is Jimmy Page and Robert Plant "No Quarter" or "Unleaded" album. This is awsome tunes for smoking the machine from the first song, "Nobody's Fault But Mine" to the last "Kashmir." Most songs have Egyptian and Morrocan string bands backing them. Too cool for a Zep-head! MR Bubble
