piperdown
Fsck, sh1t, s0n 0f b33ch. Pulled a little too hard on the hookah hose last night, and one of the coals flicked off the bowl and onto the carpet. My wife was thrilled to say the least . The carpet looks okay except for stiffnes due to some surface melting. Anyone have any tricks for recovering from such a gaff? (note to self - too much single-malt scotch and hookah do NOT mix well). NERV
i dont tihnk you can repair, you can either have melted carpet, or cut off the section and have a bald spot in ur carpet
Mathazar
lol........I've had MAJOR burns this week One of them scared the HELL out of me, because it burned clear thru the carpet in a matter of seconds, and then it began to burn the matt under the carpet. All I could smell was rubber burning, and I was about to call 911 when I finally got it to stop burning. The thing that scared me so bad was that the carpet rests on a rubber matt, or something of that nature, and there are air pockets between the carpet and the matt. I have a feeling the matt is fire retardent, because I was almost certain that when I started to smell rubber burning, then that would be it. I'd have to call the fire dept and a good lawyer. I live in a highrise. Fortunately, the damage was minor, but it left behind a HUGE black hole in my rug. Infact, I've around 6 of those so far, not to mention the stain from the dripping molasses. I don't have an answer to your dilemma, but I would lay-off the scotch while smoking
Mathazar
Let me recant: I've had 3 MAJOR burns this week. One of them burned the HELL out of my carpet. Why can't their be a friggin EDIT button?
piperdown
Good news - since the coal was only on the carpet for a couple of seconds, and with the cooler side down, we were able to take care of ithe carpet by brushing it with a stiff brush to get rid of the stiff (melted) fibers I think I'm gonna pick up a windscreen today to prevent this from happening in the future. Mathazar
Geez......if you did to your carpet what I did to mine, your wife would probably go BALISTIC on you As it is, changing my carpet is going to cost well over $1200, and I'm certainly going to let insurance pick up the tab. If my manager new I was up here smoking a hookah and burning holes in my carpet the size of golf balls, I'd be out on my ass looking for a new place to live. They'd bounce my ass out of here SO quick

supachink
I lived in the college dorms last year and there were about 4 burns straight through that hard ass grey carpet sh*t that all the dorms have, if they have carpet... i just put my desk in the middle of the room when i was leaving to cover them up... LOL. But this summer we were at my friends house and bured the carpet, so we cut some out of the corner of the closet and glued it in place and hope to god his mom doesnt even stare at the carpet too hard, i should try the brush sometime when i go back. HookahCulture
Knife out a 3 inch square and replace the affected area. OR......Don't smoke on carpet! I have a large piece of thin dense fiberboard under mine. Home Depot for 6 bucks, 3x3 foot section.
Jon12
Got my first burn yesterday, I used a knife to break up the stiff fibers but it's still a bit black. Why hasn't any one made some kind of cage to prevent dropped coals? PRO TIP: Always keep tongs in reach for quick removal of dropped coals
