Yonatan
Colored smoke. I think this has been asked before but i can't seem to find the thread. Imagine red or green smoke... man, would that be awesome. anyways my results: 1) Tried putting red food coloring in the vase (thought the water would filter the smoke and that on the way the smoke would pick up the color...) result: failure 2) Tried putting some food coloring in the tobacco itself, thought that, along with the glycerin the food color would evaporate too and mix with the smoke... result: failure --- ANYWAYS: if anyone could find a way to color smoke, i would love them forever. DizzyGuy
I think that it was deduced that it can't happen
CaliforniaRose
Photoshop? No I don't have any useful answers for you, but that just gave me a great idea for altering my personal hookah photos.
Shavo989
The reason that they didn't work would probably be that the water in the food coloring would be what evaporates, not the pigment, which would probably just stay behind. There are chemicals that are used in pyrotechnics that are used to color smoke, but it probably wouldn't work in a hookah and even if it did I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to be breathing that shit in. I've noticed the smoke from Djarum Blacks is a little on the green side, though.

And it's highly amusing But my guess is that would come from the black paper... HEY< Just put magazines and colored bits of newspaper in your bowl! Maybe cool colors! *Please do not really try that, dying is bad mmmmk.*
Joseph
Hookah is bad enough for you, I wouldn't suggest making it worse by adding dye. To make the colored smoke, the dye particals would need to stay solid without burning, just inhale dye dust. If it burns it would probably lose its color. You could inhale some straight congo read or acridine orange, and try to breathe out colored clouds, but that would be even worse then hookah. hookah~rob~
i think there was a thread on this a wile back. i know tangiers and mushy had said that it wasnt possible without harmful effects. the reason djarum cigarettes look a little green is because of the clove thats in them. look at the skin of someone that has smoked them for years and they will have a slightly blue tint to their skin. lack of oxygen i guess. i believe there was a watermelon flavor that had a slight pink tinge to it but i cant be certain. try using colored lights in your smoke room and you can get some really cool effects. blacklight is nice makes the smoke glow purple. Erica
If you can eat food coloring I dont see why it would be that bad to smoke it... But what do i know? hahahah Someone told me that one of the melons they smoked had a pink hue to it... EH.. I didnt see it. hahaha I think colored smoke would be awesome.. haha Then you could tell what people were smoking with out having to smell or taste it! *EW its green, mint!* hahaha eh
SanguineSolitude
as stated earlier, in order to have colored smoke you would need to manage to have particles of pigment that could both become airborne and retain their color properties when burned. im pretty sure theres nothing currently out there that can do this AND not kill or seriously harm you. i mean there is colored smoke for like firework type things, but i wouldnt reccomend inhaling that.
