effect of alcohol in base on tar and nicotine

was wondering after a visit to the local campus helth facility what the effect of adding alcohol to the water would be. I asked my campus doctor( who is of middle eastern discent and smokes) and he suggested that i add the filters that you can get online into the hose and to add high proof alcohol into the base water to help disolve some of the tar. the theory that tar is disolved by alcohol. any theorys? and studies on this yet? read this study after reading the other thread about health. http://webfea-lb.fea.aub.edu.lb/aerosol/do...gilehpaper1.pdf

Huh...I'll admit, thats very interesting. I suppose the only one to ask in Tangiers. He's the "Hookah Science Expert" around here...I will add though, If I was worried about the state of my lungs, I wouldn't be smoking, lol.

ya, i am just a little worried about the heavy metals and the amount of tar though, i like hookah and even if they tell me its really awful for me i probably wont quite. i honestly think its a amount thing. americans tend to take everything to excess, smoking, drinking, cars, everything. i find it very comforting that there are guys that are still smoking in the middle east that are in their 80's and are fine. just makes you wonder a little.

Yea, You actualyl do get a lil alchy buzz.

But I would not sugest filling the whole thing with it. It burns your lungs... BAD.
