NewUrbanist916
Sorry if this has been addressed before (which I'm sure it has, I just cannot seem to find anything with this search engine), but why exactly do 1 hose hit better than multi-hose. I understand that u can't have more than one person taking a hit at the same time and that the hoses not in use must be plugged. It just doesnt make sense that it would not hit as well (other than maybe a small amount of smoke 'climbing' into the other hoses. thanks.
art_official
if two or more people are pulling smoke, than air is going to be drawn from the chamber. this causes less smoke than normal to be pulled in, and therefore smaller or weaker looking hits. im sure theres more "physics lingo" to be thrown into this, but thats the general idea. its the similar reason why a pipe wont hit as well if theres an air leak, air takes place of smoke...therefore less smoke. hope it helps san diego pride! haha

SanguineSolitude
1 hose for the win. in general a since hose will hit better than a double just because of all the excess room for air to leak in. throug the multiple hose ports. even with a finger they never seem to pull as well. who knows, im sure some work better than others. a good set of hose grommets and a firm plus should deal with this pretty well. i just like the look and simplicity of one hose. even if i wanted to smoke with a bunch of people i would probably buy a rotator rather than a multi hose. art_official
no shouldnt be a difference multi hose hookahs have been being used for centuries so as long as the air is kept tight, your alright! (ya the unintentional ryme is cute i know haha) pm me if you ever wanna sesh it in SD im in encinitas
JoeLipinski
I have a 3 hose social smoke hookah and I have had a great experience with it. The only thing that really causes less smoke is when two people hit it at the same time. I love my 3 hoser. It is so convenient, when you have multiple people. NewUrbanist916
I'm still undecided. I have a one-hose right now, and it's fine. But I oftentimes finding myself lounging on a sofa and not feeling like moving, lol. we'll see though. Well, so far, I'm hearing that not having tight enough seals could be a culprit for hindered performance. Any more thoughts? Thanks everyone. JoeLipinski
Like I said before, I haven't really noticed a difference between a 1 hose and my 3 hose. I just make sure that the plugs are in tight when I am smoking with 1 or 2 hoses.

I swear I can't see anything in front of me without blowing the smoke out of the way..if you are gonna get one make sure it's automatic so that you dont need to plug the hose
Allia22
Indeed, 2 hoses rock my world I had my hookah down here while checking the forum and the smoke completely blocked the screen every once in a while. 'Twas grand.

SafeSearch
to those who argued pro 1 hose because of less air leakage than a multi hose, what about the new stems with ball bearings?i personally have a 1 hose and a 3 hose, and i have never identified a difference. camelflage
ive use a 1-hose egyptian if its me and maybe 1 or 2 other people, a 2-hose mod hookah with the valve system for like 2-4 people, and then a 3-hose egyptian for like 5+ people. the 3-hose hits just as hard as the single hose as long as people are covering the hoses. the valve system works alright but seems to make for a harder pull from what i can tell. Sonthert
My general guess is that a single hose, you only draw smoke from the chamber, with a second hose (plugged with someones thumb), you have the volume of the hose to draw down, too. Making the hit weak. Autoseals should be better by sealing the volume of the second hose off...but most people I've seen talk of autoseals don't say they work too well.
