That is white, the social smoke one you linked is Frosted. SO if you ordered white, that is what you got.But it does look like its painted pretty bad. xpimpitox Posted December 14, 2006 Share Posted December 14, 2006 damn like everybody says thats not like them at all. to make a long story short when i ordered my mya bohemian they sent the wrong base, it was bohemian base but egyptian style. it was an awesome base but not exactly what i wanted. after a few phone conversations they credited me back 10 bucks and a few days later i got an e-mail sayin they can get me a bohemian base in in the same color, but different design. a few days later i got my base in the mail and sent the one i didnt want back at no extra charge. now thats customer service. def give them a call and tell them your not happy with your purchase, they should more than take care of you. SS are good people.well if you wanted to keep the vase, you could probably clean the lines up with a razor blade. They are hand made like Sang said so its not going to be perfect. I think lots of the clay bowls are like that because they're handmade and the imperfections do occur. I emailed them and sent them a pic and a couple days later I got a brand new bowl. I ordered the dark blue base and they called me the next day saying it was out so i got a light blue base (not on website). It doesnt look to be in perfect condition but i thought since its hand made its all good. And as for getting the wrong thing in the mail, they do have a large warehouse so a mistake now and then can happen. I got such a great deal on the hookah and everything that I didn't really care.The pipe coming down into my vase was flaking off all of the metal coating that they put on it as well, and get metal flake in my water. It was really messed up, but they credited me $15 to my account and I didn't mind. I just sanded it down and got all of that crap off there. You get what you pay for, but I still love social smoke, and for the price, they have the best quality hookahs, and they take care of their customers. Imperfections are just the nature of the beast, and there is no way around them. These base are cranked out by hand... If you want perfection aesthetically (but usually a pile of shit, smokewise, unless it's a Mya), buy a Chinese hookah. They're made by machines. If I were you, I'd just keep the base you've got, as it is in pretty fine shape really. What they end up sending out to you could be much worse. I broke my vase a few months back and got a new regular egyptian one from SS. The top of the vase was so tight that it was impossible to get the stem down in there with the normal grommit it had. I had to modify the grommit with a razorblade and it is still tight as hell, but it doesn't leak, so I'm cool with it. They are all made by hand and that's what happens.
