yeah theres a search feature for a reason guys. its find if you want direct advice to make a new thread, but if its just info youre seeking then the search probably will help you

I'm sure this is a common question, but I did a forum search and couldn't find it discussed here.

well, I wont lie, the search is pretty terrible. You just need to go to the second and third pages.

and in reference to my post. Thats nice.

I'll admit, the search isn't that easy to use, but I've found that if you use the advanced search, and change your options so your searched phrase only shows threads matching the same words in the thread title only, your search will get narrowed down much more. Then you won't get a bajillion threads.

the screens get rusty, its simpler to get a big box of foil that you can use a million times- plus you can customize the pattern of your holes, and if you use a bigger bowl you can use that. I cant use the charcoal screen on my bowl cause its a fat bowl and i likes it like that.

I know, most forum searches suck...

How about we sticky some of these topics some place? Bases, waterlevels, what to look for in a hookha, what kind of hoses, bowls/funnels, ice chambers, wind covers, how pack pack a bowl, (dos and donts), etc.

I know on most car forums I visit they have a FAQ for noobs concerning common problems (like bimmerforums--calcartman could explain that too xD) that many owners face. We should do the same. We should make a culmination of all our hookha knowledge and make a FAQ, then sticky it.

I second the motion (not that I have any experiences to add, but it would definitely be helpful for n00blets like me).

All in good fun, Sanguine. smile.gif

Do you guys know if the charcoal screens (like those that SS sells) would fit the Large Ceramic bowls from SS?

No, they don't. I mean, you can get the tabs bent around the bowl, but there ends up being a small space between the edge of the screen and the rim of the bowl. Go with foil man. I started with screens, tried foil once, and never looked back. Now where's mushrat to tell us how awesome screens with a wind cover are... biggrin.gif

I use screens because its hard to get the foil on my bowl. Btw I use a pyrex glass bowl.

As for the major debate on screen vs foil heres what i say.

I personall prefer screens. Saves time and trouble. But its down to one of those thigns, what do you prefer? Cant say that foil is the traditional method, cause traditionaly they just popped the coal right on the tobacco XD Each has its pros and cons, so its down to what you work best with biggrin.gif

Foil.

I enjoy experimenting with different hole patterns/coals to find that ideal smoke session. The best session I've had was with foil, heavy foil preferred.

A friend of mine uses less charcoal per bowl but pokes fewer holes and I find it to be more harsh. I increase the charcoal by a small amount and spread out the holes and make more of them for a better smoke.

To each his own.
