Eventful Weekend

Recommended Posts

Okay... To make a long story short I had some friends come over for a week before winter break get-together. Fun, fun, right? Well one of these people happened to be a notorious light-weight and ended up getting shitfaced off of a little bit of alcohol. He went upstairs to use the bathroom and all of a sudden we hear a crash. We go up to see what happened and he's okay, thankfully, although he happens to be lying on a cabinet that he fell on and knocked to the ground. Me being the calm, cool, and collected person that I am (we hookah smokers tend to be), I didn't make a big thing about it. Just got him up, gave him a bottle of water and some crackers and hooked him up with a ride.

But today I went to clean up the numerous bottles and containers that were strewn about the bathroom floor, but once I got the shelf off the floor I saw that it landed smack-dab on the stem of a hookah that was drying from that day's washing. So I go to pick it up and the pipe that runs through the stem from the bowl too the vase was completely severed at the point where it meets the outer metal part of the stem. GREAT... So I go on Social Smoke (it was an SS hookah) and the replacement is gonna put me back $31.00, not to mention the medium single-hose Egyptian stems are out of stock at the moment. I soldered the broken part back on the so it'll hold me over until I can get a replacement.

Have I got a good luck streak or what?

man that sucks...

When I have people over my nicer hookahs get put away.. haha

There are always going to be people that can't controll themselves or hold their liquor and things get broken..

Im sorry to hear that your hookah broke though, that sucks

Careless drunks really piss me off angry.gif

I've got a few friends that are clumsy enough even when they aren't drinking. I've been really lucky though -- my hookahs have been tipped over, even completely knocked off of tables, several times without any damage. Talk about carpet damage though, I've had whole three kings coals stomped out into my carpet.

Put away all valuables when drunk people are around. That's rule #1

Haha, I'm well aware of that rule. I usually keep my stuff in the closet, but I lock up money and stuff in THAT cabinet, and since I was in the bathroom I when I washed it I locked in there after it was dry when people started showing up. It appears that one of the shelves came loose and got the stem when the cabinet went down. I didn't think about it until this morning when I went to clean up the mess.

This is definitely one of the reasons why I feel like I can't bring myself to order a truly expensive hookah, sometimes shit just happens and you can't do anything about it. It's frustrating for everyone involved, and someone has to pay for it. My current plan is to have a hookah that isn't super high quality and one that is really small (qt) and therefore hard to break, even when clumsy. Not that either of those things would really have helped you.

He's a friend, right? Tell him he owes you thirty bucks.

He's not really a friend. He's just an aquaintance of a friend. I've had a lot of stress this weekend so I'm not gonna make a big deal about it, as it's the least of my problems.

I counted my collection of the year's couch treasure this afternoon (holiday habit of mine) and I have enough, so I'm not really out that much anyway. Now I just got to roll it all excange it for paper money at the bank, so I'm off to bore myself to death. Take care.
