mushrat
I'll be serving non-alchoholic stuff for the non-drinkers at smokestackers. I had a thread like this a while back ill dig up and print, but this is a whole new crowd so i'll ask again. I'm already thinking energy drinks, fruit juices and blends....so specificially....When smoking a hookah, especially out at a cafe, what do you like to drink that is non-alchoholic? What would you WANT to drink if it was available.?Thanks folks.
Sir Tony
I drink organic pomegranate juice every time I go out to the bar. I think you are right on with the energy drinks, juices (more exotic ones) and blends.

sicklecow
Definitely different coffees and teas. Especially teas. Hot and cold, sweetened and unsweetened, flavored and plain. Oh, and if you can, make sure you can offer fresh-brewed iced tea; it's probably a bit more expensive, but it's way way better.Good luck, can't wait to find an excuse to visit the area so I can stop in! CaliforniaRose
I am with most of the other posters:Teas (hot, iced, caffienated, non caffienated)Energy Drinks (I agree exotic ones are awesome, though being a girl my favorite is Tab Energy)Sodas (again, important that there are caffinated and non caffienated options)Fruit Juices (especially fresh and exotic)What about for a fee being able to add certain non alcholic beverages to the vase, like the fruit juices? SAEPhoenix
Always enjoyed simplicity. Just give me a Coke or a Pepsi.... maybe a cherry coke if I am feeling frisky. I would think that there is excellence in simplicity sometimes. Although I do think that things like tea would be alright- never really thought about it before to be honest.... SanguineSolitude
moroccan mint tea FTW. super easy to make and people love it.my suggestion for teas is to have three options. dont go ridiculous. have like a moroccan mint, a black tea, and a caffeinated option.and perhaps just plain old iced tea (sweet of course, we are in the south afterall)soda fountain machine makes sense and gives higher profit to you, but means you need to collect glasses and possibly(hopefully) provide refillsmaybe a selection of exotic juices like nantucket nectars juices, or bottles arizona iced teasif you have the espresso machine... then espressos, mochas, and lattes. (dont go too insane on options)id say that would be a good drink list. if you get an alcohol license then beer and wine(maybe.) you dont want to be serving much in the way of hard alcohol im thinking since drunken people and hookahs dont mix well. plus this is a deli and hookah hangout not a bar. LuxOR541
I would go with just about anything you would find at an espresso stand with a few changes if budget allows. Normal espresso drinksJet tea smoothiesEnergy drinks ( I would only serve red bull and maybe one of the cult brands like crunk or something like that. Too many varieties and it gets too expensive to maintain an inventory of all the different brands)Fountain soda. way more profit than bottles or cans. Snapple white/green teasLemonade, strawberry lemonade, raspberry lemonade, etc.Italian sodas (if you're doing the espresso drinks this is a no brainer since you already have all the syrups, and carbonated water with the fountain sodas.hot tea (this could even be self serve) Brew up in big pots and sell it as a self serve refillable mugI think it's a good idea to go non-alcoholic only, simply because it opens up your business to 18-20 year olds who will probably be very curious about the hookah aspect, who cannot yet buy alcohol. Good luck mushy and keep us postedEdited to add> Oops, missed that you are going to be serving alcohol from the beginning. Either way sounds like you'll have a solid business model. Actually, will probably work better to have the alcohol since you will probably be axing out the -18 crowd with the hookah.... duh! Where you'll lose out the sandwich sales to the under 18 crowd by just having the hookahs, i think you'll lose out more on the hookah and everything else sales by not haveing it be a place where people can drink and socialize. If ya need some great soup recipes let me know..... Edited December 20, 2006 by LuxOR541
ghostofdavid
I really like Rockstar Energy Drink in the can that comes premixed with Guava juice. It is in a red and black can.+1 to the Bawls energy drink. it is the best tasting one and comes in a cool glass bottle. All juices that are not reconstituted with sugar or come out of a fountain like soads are awesome.Get the traditional soda fountain. Fair Trade Teas are always nice and easy to make.Fair Trade and Bird Friendy coffees are always nice.

mushrat
Thanks folks..I'm presently looking at hot teas, mint, lemon, a mix of real and some herbal varieties, Coffee, expresso, appochina, perhaps some flavour shots. Nothing too fancy with the machine, not really time effective, spend 5 minutes making a 3 dollar drink doesn't make much sense in the long run.Juices, both pure and coctails, Some energy drinks, red bull of course, perhaps one other for variety, I'll be looking at a soda fountain, not sure if there is room, the bar is SMALL.may have to go with bottled soda. May throw in some yoohoo just because. I like the pomegranet idea, especially sinc eill be serving that flavour shisha, and probably some form of cranberry since *I* like it.If I do manage a fountain, then soda water will be possible and then perhaps we can do the syrup sodas...we'll see what I can manage. The opening is going to be on a shoe string....Thanks again folks, I'll post the final drink list when i get it together.
