Tobacco Quality

I am going to buy a hookah and was wondering which tobacco is the best? I am not talking about flavors, I mean brands. I have heard that tangiers is the best. So, should I buy a lot of that or buy a package that comes with more tobacco, but not tangiers?

i dont think this is the right forum for this, so expect it to get moved. tangiers and starbuzz are some of the higher rated, and priced. i wouldnt start off with either though. i got a major headache from both. i suggest layalina. its my favorite brand. and def. go for watermelon.

I recommend not buying any big tubs with your first order. Get a bunch of small 50 or 100g packs of different flavors and brands to find out which is your favorite. Tobacco preference is entirely subjective; only you can find out which is "the best."

I only have ONE choice, but i like it...

As stated, start with low gramage.. Bulk what you like...

Hookah is 'personal', and so is the smoke.

Tangiers is generally tough to get smoking correctly. Definately not the tobacco for a novice.

My favorite brands are Havana and Layalina. Both smoke excellent, and taste great. Havana is washe whereas Layalina isnt.

i second the layalina for a beginner

or buy a bunch of 50 G from different brands and test them out t see what you like best, maybe 2-3 flavors from each brand

There really is no correct answer for this. No one line creates the "best" of every flavor out there. Plus everyone here has different tastes. Some like stronger shisha and some like the milder flavored shisha. The best thing I recomend you do is look in the review section and see what got good reviews on flavors that interest you and give them a try.

like everybody says, its all personal preference. a lot of us have similar likes in flavors but just as much in variety of whats good and whats not. id highly recommend diving into starbuzz if you wanna stick to premium brands. the 5 100g social pack from socialsmoke.com is an excellent way to get started.

It's just so expensive though. Does the tobacco really justify the double price for you?

i have tried a good amount of starbuzz flavors and the ones i enjoy a lot i believe they do justify for the price. the sweet melon and the peach are the best i have ever smoked outta all the brands of the same flavor. now the cost of me finding whats good and whats not in starbuzz was something i wish i could split the bill with

EDIT: when i do have starbuzz, its not an everyday smoker for the most part due to its price, maybe 2-3 times outta the 5 times i smoke a week. Edited December 24, 2006 by xpimpitox

Everybody needs to start with Nakhla double apple. Or at least, that's what everybody seems to start with. It's a decent smoke and really cheap compared to other brands.

I started with Romman because both times I bought a hookah it was free. I like it and find it easy to get smoking well, that being said it isn't worth the price to always smoke it, $5 for 50g.

I started with fumari. Its expensive but my favorite. Layalina is excellent, entirely differently flavored but I like it. Tangiers is strong, prob. way to strong to start out with: it also give a huge buzz, especially for someone not used to it. Al Waha, I know there is different types has a very nice natural flavor to me. Starbuzz is very lightly flavored, lots of smoke and much like fumari and layalina for buzz.

I don't feel the smoke I get out of Romman justifies the price in any way.

I agree that I would rather have 250g of Tangiers to 100g Romman for the price, but that said, the Romman I've tried has been good shisha. So far that is the Peach & the Cocktail though. Edited December 25, 2006 by ksblazer

When do you or I ever smoke a "small" bowl? Do you mean a small phunnel?

i tried al-waha first and it was easy as heck to make it work right.
it may not be the best and certainly has some lame flavors but its actually my personal favorite.
al-amir has good flavor but i find it to be a bit empty. maybe i just prefer unwashed tobacco?
romman is good.
layalina ive only recently gotten to try and i really like it. great smoke out of a not so great hookah, and the flavors are pretty strong.

yea small funnel XD i do use my small egyptians when i get new flavours in, i cant wait to try each one and dont want to pack a funnel XD

I also started out with Fumari..
But the best i'd have to stick with Starbuzz.

I find AA to be missing something too. Just doesnt stand out that much flavor wise.
