Why Put A Hole In The Center Of A Funnel Bowl?

Why do people put/say to put a hole in the foil right above the the opening in the funnel bowl? To keep the foil from being sucked down over the opening? I would think that you would not want any air passing through, that didn't pass through some shisha first.

my guess is, you want air flow... not a lot, but enough so when sucking you dont make a seal like you said... anyone with a funnel care to comment?

I personally don't put a hole over the center... I find no need

I do tend to put one there. If something happens, like someone who sucks too hard and the foil decides to dip down and touch the funnel, it keeps bad things from happening to good people XD For me its really just peace of mind, plus its something ive done since i got it.

I say try with and without it, find what you like better

Some people like it, some don't. I find that it makes the draw easier and looser. Less smoky. My friend Chase like no hole, but he like a tighter, smokier draw.

I go for the hole...but I'm yet to try it without.
