Hookah Deep Cleaning

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I try to keep my hookah as clean as possible. Always empty the water quickly, wash it often, etc. Anyway, after months of use, it seems like my hookah needs a bit more hardcore cleaning than just the usual rinse under the sink. I can take brushes to all parts of my hookah, with soap and water, and it still smells and tastes kinda bad afterwards Has anybody tried soaking their hookah before to get harder to remove smells? Maybe a nice bath in water and rubbing alcohol?

Any other ideas?

Soak it in a 50/50 mix of hot water and lemon juice... it will smell like new after 30 minutes.

yup. I just use a wallpaper tray, since it will hold my long ass stems, and fill it with hot water, lay the stems and other parts in, then add lots of lemon juice. I just fill the bases with hot water and lemon juice and let them sit. Smells better than new when done biggrin.gif

For the first time today I really got down with trying out the cleaning with lemon juice today because I left my hookah out overnight after smoking three sessions with it and when I awoke the next morning with a hangover the base of my hookah defenantly smelled like bongwater *shivers* So yeah, drained out three lemons into the base and added hot water, let it sit for a couple of hours then bent a coat-hanger and wrapped the end with a papertowel to scrub the insides of the base alittle bit. Afterwards I was suprised to find that my base had not one single scent left to it. I now defenantly love cleaning with lemons. Worked like a charm... thanks for the info guys *smiles big* I never knew about that cleaning with lemons thing until joining out forum here~
