cypress
Just a thought. Has anyone tried chopping ma' assel into a finer cut if it is course. I have read some threads where some people complain about it being clumpy and chunky. I also read where a good cut is similar to pensil sharpener shavings. I would think just get a gormet cheff knife and go to town till its good enough?
Kofod
Go ahead and try - tell what experience you get. But just a little thing - I would probably wanna do the chopping as pr pipe - the chopping in minor pieces will make a different air/tobacco humidity equilibria drying the tobacco over time. Chopping it all at a time is a thing you dont wanne do.
cypress
Good point about doing it all at once. I will try it over the weekend and see what results I get.
Kofod
Waiting to hear the result - cause particle size must have a influence on heating - heat distribution - air flow etc. What tobacco will (literally) be under the knife? Other "set parameters"? Coals etc.?

Mathazar
cypress........when you see the cut of Hookah-Hookah ma'assel, you're not going to need to chop it. It's not pencil shavings like MR Bubble said, it's more granular, and you're only going to be able to load-up half bowls so that the coal doesn't come in contact with the tobacco because it burns very easily. I really think you're going to love this stuff. I'll get some in the mail to you on Tuesday, and I suspect you'll have it by Friday at the latest
cypress
I tried it last night on a courser cut ma'asell and I would have to say that it did help out as far as releasing some of the taste and packing of the bowl. The flavor seemed about 30% better. It also seemed like the heat was dispersed more evenly as the cut was more consistent. I think the next time try it I will take some before and after pictures and find out at what point wil be too fine where there is too much honey/mollases or ma' assel seapage through the holes. Also alen, how does your coffebean grinder hold up. Seems like the grinders would get too sticky.
Mathazar
Yeah, I wouldn't reccommend a coffee grinder. Get yourself a small Quisinart Food Processor, it'll be a good investment both for cooking and for chopping your ma'assel. I think you can order one direct from the company or from www.Amazon.com
