Are Phunnel/funnels Worth It?

I've been around these forums for about a year now, but never really posted. I've noticed these new funnel bowls,and I'm wondering, are they worth it?

i've got a few of them, but im not an active funnel smoker. from what i've seen, you have to use a bit more coal than normal.

it all comes down to one thing though.
to each his own.

the advantage to the funnel bowl is mainly that in comparison to other bowls, you can get a lot longer session for the same amount of tobacco. the downfall is that they use a lot of coals and tobacco. If you get Scalli's mod, then you don't have to use nearly as much tobacco as you normally would to get a good smoke. I love my funnel bowl, but I only pull it out if I am going to be smoking a flavor I love and a flavor that I will be smoking over an extended period of time. Like today, I smoked some Starbuzz Blackberry and I smoked for about 2 hours and tom. (well actually today) I will smoke a few more hours with the same tobacco. I know it seems expensive, but a funnel bowl is really great and extremely good for parties.

EDIT: another downfall is the initial cost for the bowl (even though you will make up for it because you will not use as much tobacco) Edited December 27, 2006 by JoeLipinski

most people buy theirs from Mnhookah... they also sell tangiers (the tobbaco made by the funnel designer) aswell.

LOVE my phunnels... prefer to use them instead of my regular bowls. Juice doesn't get everywhere, longer sessions, more intense flavor, purdier

They're worth it alright. Just as everyone else mentioned, the sessions last longer and it's a whole lot cleaner on your stem. I personally don't see the need for anything larger than a small funnel unless you plan on smoking with a large group of people. If you mostly smoke alone with the occasional group sitting, small should do you just right. I puchased from MNHookahs and I'm very happy with my phunnel. Be prepared to use a lot of coals and have some extremely long sessions. Only use it when you know you'll be smoking for a while or it's just gonna waste shisha.

my phunnel is great. i love using it for party sessions. it last forever, but it does use up alot of coal. whatever its a great session.

its def. worth it. only disadvantage is if you jus want to sample new flavors quickly then its easier to pack a small a egyptian bowl

I got 3 for a reason i love my large for long smokes, and even my small can give me some massive amounts of smoke time. In my mind i cant even see myself using another bowl ever again XD

Mine just came in yesterday, it sure is massive for a medium!

Looks like it will last 3 hours! I got it after all the good publicity they get here and I can't wait to use it. I will definitely use it with my AF tobaccos since they have such a heavy liquid content and seep all over the place with a regular bowl.

I have a large funnel bowl and I smoke it until the coals go out, then set it aside for the next night. I can get about 3 nightly smokes off of one bowl.

they're definitely worth it IMO. no juices run down the stem, more flavor, & these monsters hold a lot 4 long smoke seshs. i just wish they made metal screens for em.

One session and I am officialy a convert.
The funnel is fantastic. No hole in the middle for me on the foil, just the perimeter. Works like a serious charm!
MN isn't the only carrier. I paid 10 bucks for a medium plus shipping, didn't have a color choice but who cares!

i still use this method (cus im too damn broke to buy one) however ive smoked from real phunnels and it has a strong resembling effect
lakes idea works well so you can see if you really want one...


if only other hookah products worked like that... lol
