Ahookahfan
I'd like to start out by saying that I'm a long time reader, and first time poster. That said, has anyone experimented beyond ice, milk and juice and in base of a hookah? I'm talking about using spices, or salt, or the like? I have played around with lemon/orange chunks, and I didn't taste much of difference.. a liquid flavoring is the best way to go, imho. You could take some really stong spices like ground cinnamon, and see how that goes.
afrdzak
mix and match different flavors of liqour with the flavor of tobaccoone of my personal favorites is amaretto liquour. You don't need more than 1-2 shots for one medium bowl. A chilled bowl is normally enjoyed more. Also, fresh fruit (lemon and lime comes to mind). One of the hookah bars in San Diego started charging extra to put in fruit syrup and fresh cut fruit. Edited December 27, 2006 by afrdzak

fizzgig
Juice in the base is good. Flavored tea, chai for a spicy taste, mint for a cool taste.

Doubon
ok, while we're on this topic, i remember reading that when using milkyou need to mix it with water else the bubbles will fck up the pipe, hose, etc. so whats the ratio of milk to water ?? DizzyGuy
Well, he said besidse milk... but I've heard that about 1/8 milk works fine
EvansLight
Orange zest rocks with all. Lemon zest too. For spices, well maybe some mint leaf in with some mint tobacco, then again straight mint is too much for most anyways, although i love it
The Cameron
i did some Al Amir strawberry with water and Strawberry wine in the base. it was really good.
DizzyGuy
What wine, Cameron? That just reminded me, I need to get some Boone's Farm to try in the base sometime! That stuff has decent flavor and a *TINY* bit of alcohol, could be interesting!

Hexagon
I tried ice, milk, coke, apple slices, etc, but nothing effected much... So usually I use cold water + ice cubes.
afrdzak
i think the next time I get a chance, I'm going to try ice early grey tea and mint leaves. I have no idea what flavor tobacco I would match that with though, but my first attempt would be some iranian tombak (traditional tobacco) if I can get a hold of some. camelflage
just throw some cinnamon in your eyes, same effect. Alcohol is not bad in the vase, and the vapors will actually do a little cleaning on your hose if you use a distilled white liquor (vodka, everclear, etc).
