Because unless you have a wind screen, any breeze will cause the coals to take off much quicker than inside. But I do agree with what nerv suggested. I can smoke anywhere, but if I had the choice, inside is where its at. In my dorm room, I can turn on the tunes, relax and blow O's with ease.
