ghostofdavid
I still have a widget from a Boddingtons or Guiness can where I was going to make my own. Maybe I wont be sick by this time next week and I'll make one.

ZAP
I've got some. They are nothing more than a pre-made diffuser. You get two in the pack. A large and a small.I see no reason at all why this would not work on the QT.

Zerodynamic
yeah.. this is yet another thing that I want from them... I wonder, will this affect the draw at all?
The Cameron
i imagine it would make the draw a bit more difficult, but i could very well be wrong.

ZAP
There's lots of ways you can make your own. Take something like a balloon or pen cap that fits the end of your hookah and poke lots of holes in it with a hot needle. It works just as well.Draw will be affected but not by a lot. Scarecrow
I used the widget from the insde of a guiness beer can and I melted the holes into the entire bottom section of the widget. After all that I made a hole to attach to the stem with a drill that was slightly smaller and heated the tube and pushed it into the hole for an air tight fit. I havent noticed a more difficult draw at all. But the benefits are the water isnt disturbed eneugh to rise high in the hookah like normal and less rumbling sound against the floor/table.Here are some pictures:
Scheetz
just drill a bunch of holes in a mouth tip and shove it in the stem. Thats all I did and it makes a world of difference. And no it doesn't make the draw harder.
Oneeyedziggy
I'd say rubber band a piece of sheer cloth from the walmart scrap bin, or maybe one of those golf sized wiffle balls... i'll post my results as soon as my hookah arrivesps, never seen the widgit from a guiness can... just the bottle, ya know... the bullet shaped ones. SixPackSunday
wiffle balls are too big to fit into the bowl... at least for all of my hookahs... whats to stop me from just putting some mesh flush with the bottom of the down stem? i feel like that would break the bubbles up the best while leaving the best open flow to reduce drag. i have some at home, just keep forgetting to put some on... It's like cutting a bubble in half... you can't; it just reforms around the knife.
willbb123
QUOTE (Zerodynamic @ Dec 30 2006, 11:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>yeah.. this is yet another thing that I want from them... I wonder, will this affect the draw at all? They have been selling them for a while, but they ran out. I've been using one for a while and I like it. Personally I dont think that it affects the draw too much. I keep using it because it makes the hookah quieter. On my hookah there is basically a nut on the bottom of the stem. The small one barely fits. I would imagine that either that is why they say that it cant work with some hookahs or the stem might be too long.If you want to learn more do a search there has been mutable threads about the herbas and homemade diffusers. ronald_dooley
I really like using the diffuser, but I never use it because the nut at the end of my downstem is so big, it's a real pain to get the diffuser on and off. So... it stays off due to the trouble it causes.
liquidglass
I have a nut on the bottom of my stem too, so I just put the top rubber fitter in some hot water and put it on, I never take it off, just the bottom part when I want to clean it.
