Nakhla Sweet Melon Box

Recommended Posts

So I picked up a box of Nakhla Sweet Melon at a local Turkish shop and immediately thought it felt light, so I came home and dropped it on the scale, still in the box. 128 grams angry.gif damnit, and it was $10 too. My question is, does Nakhla make boxes at this weight and why? No weight is specified on the box, but it's the normal full sized box. Could the store be responsible for this? This place was also selling QTs for $175 and Mya Acrylics for $250. Damnit... I think I need to go back there and cause a scene angry.gif

It wasn't sold as a 250g -- there is no weight specified on the box. I just kinda assumed, since it's the same box...

Anyway, I guess the point of the story is buyer beware -- If the box feels light, it probably is. I'm sure the store can sell these 120g boxes almost as effectively at $10 as they could 250g boxes. angry.gif arghhh!

Well here's an update: I found the website for the store, and they advertise their shisha as 250g on the site. Anybody else think I have grounds to email them and complain?

Here's the site: http://www.turkishdelights.cc

The store is called GÛVEN'S and is located in the King of Prussia mall (avoid the entire godforsaken place if you can.)

Yea... beats me. I paid $10 for 120g at the store. The hookahs on the site were also about double the price in the store.

That's pretty bad even for Naklah. Their 50g packs are notoriously light. Boxed 250g packs have been honest enough for me. I recently bought some sealed naklah 250 gram boxes from Hookah Company. The weight was correct. The inner package - the thin mylar sealed packet weight was 9.5 oz x 28 = 266g.

I would call and explain the situation, tell them what you need to make it right. How they respond will tell you whether or not you will want to give them another try. If you have not opened the light package, there should be no disputing your claim.

Good luck and let us know how it works out. blink.gif

Unless they told u or actually had it being listed as a 250gram box, what can you complain about. Nakhla sells their normal 250gram sized box with other weights in it. The only nakhla that comes in a small box is their 50 gram box. I have gotten about 150 gram boxes of nakhla that are the same as their 250gram boxes. So to your question, yes they sell their 250gram sized box with other amounts in it, that is why you did not see a weight on the box

i have the feeling my 100g sampler starbuzz was on the short side also. because i just recently ordered 100g tangiers bags and they are almost about 1/3 heavier then the starbuzz sample sizes. im just waiting on my friend to return my .01g acc. cooking scale.

I noticed you are from Lansdale, PA. Did you happen to go to the turkish shop in King of Prussia, because the same thing happened to me I purchased Nahkla tobacco that seemed to be 250 gram boxes but in reality there was only 100 grams inside. They still charged me 10 or 11 bucks for the box.

Chances are if they are selling a QY for 175 dollars, they don't mind screwing you over. I beleive I once saw a site selling Nahkla for 150g boxes, but I'm not certain. It was a while ago, and they shop was in a foriegn country, so I didn't pay much mind.

I remember buying 150 gram boxes from a local arab shop. The man working there would always put the boxes on the scale after he told me alot of people do lighten the load. It should always come up a bit high since there is a box and wrapping aswell too. Also be sure everything is properly sealled when you buy. Nahkla is one of the few tobacco's from what I can see that can be easily lightened.

I would suggest to learn arabic numbers as even though the Nakhla 150g and 250g boxes look the same, they actually state the "weight" on the box. 1 says 150g and 1 says 250g. Look on the web for arabic numbers and then look on the box and they you can see what is supposed to be inside. But if you hold a 150g box in 1 hand and a 250g box in the offer, 1 is definitely heavier than the other.

My understanding is that some Nahkla is packaged in the Middle East (Egypt) while some is packaged in the US. The US packaged stuff may be highly suspect. There was a rumor that there was a distributor in New Jersey that was doing this. Their packages were so light, they had to start labelling over the 250g print "200g". No way to tell for sure. The best thing to do is don't buy from companies that short their packages. You paid $40/Kg for Nahkla! You could have bought any number of superior brands for that price.

  • 1 year later...
Had this happen to me but with Nakhla DA. It came in the same sized box as 250 gram. Wasn't just the amount of tobacco that was different though, inside the box it was held in a transparant plastic wrap instead of the thick foil like sealed bag. And the tobacco itself was very different, very moist with a different taste, very nice actually. The box had a different design too. I think it's the non-export tobacco.
