The Cameron
i diagree zero, if you have the opportunity, why not? its your hookah, if you like it, i say go for it. but if you make a screen out of titanium, you should make one that is custom made for your bowl, with small air holes and no gaps for large amounts to escape. i think that would be awesome to see. Zerodynamic
well, i just see titanium as a waste. that stuff is expensive, and steel would work just as well. Lets not forget, screens can be lost very easily too.But hey, if you wanna go for it... by all means. I am interested to see how it goes.
sambookamax
Well, yes, it would be made for free...no cost I am using the phunnel mod (copper version) and was wondering if there were any ill effects of these metals separate or together?I am working on figuring out the hole pattern too...!?? For the screen.
sambookamax
LOL! I didn't even want to make it, my friend is wanting to...hell I may even go for a titanium windscreen down the road!

Sir Tony
Sounds like it would work great. You wouldn't have to worry about rusting when you clean it and it would be stong. Where are you getting this abundance of titanium?
Scarecrow
Go for it. Will never rust and will have no weight to it. In russia titanium is very abundant.
sambookamax
Yeah, I am still trying to figure that part out, the hole pattern...want to try different ones to see what works best...So if anybody has some suggestions, I have a post here ab out the hole pattern on a small phunnel... http://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showtopic=7413Thanks! Guest
I used a screen made of lead and I've had a really bad cough ever since. Also, one of my feet is turning grey.
The Cameron
i was thinking about making one out of lead, so i need to know, was it the left or right foot? im only willing to give up a certain one, so this may be worth it. thanks.
HAHkoo
since we're on the topic of screens i think it would be awesome to have a steel screen that was teflon coated! haha nonstick! and easy to clean.
ghostofdavid
Smiley sent me one of his glass screens, and I must say, it is amazing. The shisha burns perfectly, now if I could get him to make one for the phunnel.
Scarecrow
I hate metal screens. They are all indented which makes them retarded to use. When you use foil it stays flat with the top of the bowl. Ofcourse they couldnt follow that...
sambookamax
Well mine is going to be flat, with rolled edges (to hold it in place). I am going to sandblast it when done, not sure of the finish on the screen though, maybe a matte finish I will take some pics, through the process... sambookamax
OK here are some pics...It is round, just looks weird cuz of the marker around the edge...makes it look jagged, The diameter is 3.5 inches, this will be for the small phunnel. So this project is in motion [attachment=28:01_04_07_0843.jpg][attachment=29:01_04_07_0844.jpg] Edited January 4, 2007 by sambookamax

Sonthert
Hmmm [sound of scratching beard]Titanium is flammable to some degree...not as much so as magnesium, but heating it up to that temperature may be a bad idea. Its seems to be incredibly non-toxic in humans, but no telling what kind of dose you could get off a heated screen.I have never believed, on the subject of hole arrangement, that holes make too much of a difference...more a superstition thing.
