Plastic Hoses > Any Hoses

Recommended Posts

So i decided to try plastic hoses. Went to homedepot, found 3/8in food grade clear plastic tubing. 20ft for 3.99. The smoke tastes rediculously better, and they are easy to wash. They also draw more than my cobra's did, seems to burn better. I wont ever use anything else. Everyone should try these atleast once.

Sounds like the EXACT same thing I always get. Found in the plumbing isle correct?

I always buy a 20' for when I want to smoke in front of the tv, but don't want to put my hookah on the carpet, incase it tips. I keep it in the bathroom, and just use the 20' hose to reach me smile.gif

Then I buy another one and cut it into smaller, more appropriate lengths. Works great, I concur happy.gif

How do you insert this into your hookah stem? Does it fit like any other hose? I might need to go to Menards/Lowe's/Home Depot today!!! I keep saying I'll do this, but today is payday and I might splurge 3.99 for a new hose.

They are kinda stiff, but managable, definatly worth the awsome smoke and washability. If they smell it probably isnt food grade clear plastic. I used the 3/8in one and just stuck them in the egyptian hoses spots. Comfort wise, they are more comfortable that my cobra hoses were. About as comfortable as a straw. Everyone should try this atleast once.

Not sure why everone's complaining about stiffness. They come pretty stiff and wound up due to the way their are tightly coiled when packaged, but all mine loosen up after about 10-15+ sessions, and I can easily move them/bend them. Whatever though.

I find with age they flatten aswell.

Yeah. I smoke in my dads garage/workstation most of the time (has a tv etc..), and it gets pretty cold out there. When the weather is cold, I find the hose tends to stiffen up, but after I turn on the space heater, and handle the hose for a few minutes, it softens right back up. Not to the point where it goes limp, but I definitely don't have to fight with it.

A few answers to comments.

First you can use probably any tip, I used a SS tip to make my mod hose. Second. If you want to beautify the hose, you can use a hose cover. Third. The hose does get stiff, but it is not too bad. I would prefer getting a flexible braided hose, but for the improved smoke quality, I will prob. never go back to leather hoses. Great thread!

I went to Lowes and Home Depot locally and they were out of the 3/8" tubes!! Both of them!!! They had the non-food grade versions of the tubings, but I didn't want to get sick/cancer/mutaba virus/etc. by using the non-FDA versions. I did notice that the 3/8 hoses looked very small compared to the Mya hoses... is it because they lack the leather wrappings like Mya hoses have?

Wait i'm confused.. so the plastic tubing that smells you don't buy? how do you know which one is safe to buy?

It will say on the box that the tubing is pulled from if it is safe or unsafe for food grade use. I don't know anything about determining if it is safe by smell, nor would I trust the sense of smell to tube safety. tongue.gif
