Coals Schmoals

I believe the technology is out there to create a bowl/attachment that is self heating, aka no coals

why hasnt someone come out with a heating element for hookahs that you can like... plug into a wall. I know it might not be convenient for those who like to smoke outdoors, but coals aren't really the greatest for the indoor crowd either.

someone modify a soldering iron and get back to me, i have monies

I've actually been working on an electric heat source for hookahs. I've ran through a couple ideas and contraptions.

Wow glad to see we're all thinking the same thing. I tried as well to create a contraption. I tried using heat bulbs but they weren't hot enough.

I've tried some stuff too, mostly with the heating elements you put in mugs to warm up coffee (it's a specific thing). Although the ultimate would be a heating element up top and a cooling rig for the water, like a refridgeration unit. It would be the world's most advanced hookah!

I've been using a heat gun for a while.

I don't use it for the entire session. I use it to light my natural coals and kick-start the bowl off. I just hold it above the foil and take a few hard puffs and I get instant clouds within seconds.

I remember once when I couldn't be bothered lighting the coals I tried to use it as a permanent sourse of heat so I placed a windcover and slotted the end of the heat gun in the hole at the top. After a few minutes I could smell something burning so I removed the windcover and saw that the gloss off my Tangiers had melted and I could see little black blobs of liquid all over it.

Maybe it wouldn't have heated up so much if I didn't put the wind cover on happy.gif
