johnchain
Can someone please explain this to me.....I understand ice buckets under the clay bowl to directly cool the smoke after it is produced, but this on the other hand (ice clay bowl) is just weird.Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the charcoal heat the bowl so it roasts the glycerin in the shisha causing the smoke. But this just contradicts it because it cools the bowl.Personally I just found this shocking, but please correct me if I'm misunderstanding how the smoke is produced. [LB]
i have one of these and it didnt smoke well cause the tin foil doesent fit over well, and its top heavy and then it broke soon after because of the ice expanding in the bowl. Didnt improve my smoke session at all. Final word IT SUCKED and is not worth the money. Cheers!
unleashtheclown
I've been wondering about these too, good to know it sucks
Zerodynamic
IMHO, it would seem a seperate ice chamber would work better.

camelflage
yeah, it doesnt make much sense to cool the tobacco with ice since the whole shebang works on heat...
EvansLight
ice does help, ive explained why a few million times, but not like this. The ice has to be AFTER the bowl, somewhere in the stem or base. You need as much heat at the bowl to vaporize more of the glycerin. So yea, it sucks
samildanach
well li've taken to putting my hose in teh freezer, and i'll tell u the first 10 or 15 drags are amazing.. whilst the hose is still ice cold.. now if only i could invent something to keep the hose ice -cold for teh duration of teh session..lol

But surly this would create a ruth-a-thon within the hoseit's self during the defrosting?JD
samildanach
hey jd , ur probably right, but i clean my hose regular and dont seem to be getting any rust coming out of it, to be hoenst i haeva fast freeze fucntion on my freezer and i only leave it in for about 20 mins, but the first few hits are worth smokin thru rust for.. lol.. samildanach
i know im tempting fate and probably gonna crack my base one day, but 20-30 mins before i wanna smoke, i put my hose and my base with the right amount of water in my freezer, in the fast freeze section.then i go prepare my bowl , light my coals and get everything ready, take the base out of the freezer, ( usually have a thin film of ice on the water...) and set it all up.. then... ( i am real CHILL freak...) i get an ice bucket...put the whole shebang in an ice bucket .. then take the hose out last , when everything is ready to smoke, and away i go.. like i said the first 10-15 puuffs are fantastic... but the whole thing stays nice and cool throughout the session coz of the ice bucket.only problem i seem to get ( not often tho) is the bearing seizing up in the purge valve. SAEPhoenix
To get to the question about the ice bowl. I got one with an order from smoking-hookah.com and I have to say I was actually quite impressed with the bowl. The idea behind it is that it instantly cools the smoke before it even enters the stem- not cools the tobacco. As far as finding foil big enough to cover it- take a roll of foil, rip off a piece that is big enough and wa-la! The smoke with the bowl is very smooth and VERY easy. My only real complaint is that you only get about a 20 min smoke out of it before the bowl goes dead. By that time the ice inside is begning to melt anyhow. What me and my friends have taken to doing is packing one with the ice bowl, and another so as soon as the ice bowl is done we can move on to the "main course" Hope this is helpful. smiley
Those do Suck. I got one and the thing broke the first use. I now put my whole hookah in the firgde and freezer. In the morning before work I put my Vase in the back of the fridge its the coldest place in the fridge, also I put the hose there too. I put my stem in the Freezer. When I get home I load my bowl and get the coal started. Then at the last min. I put the hookah Together. Becarful pulling the stem out of the freezer you my get you hand stuck to it.The stem is so cold that smoke is floating from the cold stem. Pretty Cool. This is a good smoke it lasts fairly long.Smiley Edited January 10, 2007 by smiley

AinSophAur
Am I the only one here who cant tell a lick of difference whether the water is ice cold or hot? Old or new? I use my hookah pretty much once a day and only clean/change the waterlike once a week. Even after a good cleaning I still can't taste a difference. rattler
I actually like it better with room temperature water. I don't know if I can tell the difference between old water or not...Since I would be breathing through it it would weird me out not to clean my hookah water out.
