cymptom Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 My brother and I have noticed similar issues with the glass surrounding the base of the QT. A lot of the glass around the base of his QT is clearly almost paper thin; he set it down the floor normally and a hole broke in the bottom, spilling water everywhere. The glass on my base is really thin in some areas as well. Shoddy manufacturing?It becomes more and more apparent to me as time goes on that Mya quality is merely a veneer. I have 2 Mya wide hoses, only 2-3 months old, and both have about 12596 leaks! The QT has a plethora of flaws, and the 3 larger hookahs I've tried (Bohemian, Acrylic, Cloisonne) were unimpressive to say the least -- beautiful (except for the Bohemian, which has a crooked stem... and I guess the acrylic, which is... well... acrylic) but way outperformed by any cheap Egyptian hookah I've ever tried. If enough people want them, we should collectively try to get Hookah Company to start importing them. So yea... anybody who is interested in Nour hookahs, send Hookah Company an email and let them know. Even if you don't plan on buying one -- if you would like to see that kind of quality on the market instead of all this cheap stuff we see now, let them know. I just purchased a QT and the second it came in the mail I loaded it up with some Kashmir Peach (yummy), set it down and began smoking. 5 minutes later I looked to see that my table was "leaking." I took my new phunnel bowl off (thanks again Tangiers!) and inspected my NEW QT base to discover a hairline fracture along the bottom. It seems like the most feasible way for me to obtain one without flying to California and showing up to Tangiers business and/or house looking all puppy dog eyed and whimpering for a Nour pipe. I'm not saying it wouldn't be worth it, I'm just saying it wont happen. No more cheap Chinese hookahs! Write to hookah company and ask George for mercy!
