Does Size Matter?

I recently went to a head shop in Berkeley, CA and saw this massive 8 foot hookah wih 6 hoses. I marveled quite greatly at this for a while. Then, I went to a cigar lounge in my hometown and I told the owner about the marvel. He said, and I quote "That's a great way to burn up your shit"

I nodded and kinda figured that I knew what he was saying. I'm assuming he means that the smoke dissipates before it even reaches your mouth since it has to travel over 15 feet. So I'm basically concluding...the smaller the hookah the thicker/harsher the smoke (This I believe would make sense since hitting out of a well filtered 4 foot bong is basically like inhaling hookah smoke).

Is there a perfect size for a hookah in terms of getting a "perfectly" thick and flavorful smoke load?

trying to get the perfect smoke i believe has nothing to do with the size of your hookah, (although it plays a part) but actually it's how you set-up your hookah: how you pack your bowl, getting the perfect amount of heat, and how much water is in your base. And i have smoked out of the giant 7' hookah before and actually its not that bad.
i'd compare it to just like smoking out of an bohemian or even my 18" acrylic. only down side to having a 7' hookah is having to replenish the bowl and changing coals. Other than that its eye candy.

tahts one thing i never understood (im still new so go easy on me) i dont actually own a hookah anymore but i bought a 18'' junior one a while back and it never really smoked well
so now i want to get back into it and im hearing all about mya and im debating between the mya acrylic and the QT now i would prefer the QT as i can sit it right here on my desk, dosnt take up much space but im worried it wont smoke well......

I have a lovely ss oasis but I am figguring out that that is not the most practical device to smoke from 2x a day... setup and teardown is just plain afull, It takes me about 10 min to set up from bowl prep to filling with water and packing the ice bowl and another ten for tear down + clean up... so I might give the qt or the bambino a try

well according to size, im not sure if theres too much reason as long as the smoke as a minimal amount to be stored in abase before being sucked up into your toasted lungs.

for example: http://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showtopic=7540 theres this little maybe 12 incher i practically made. gives satisfactory milks depending on your lung capacity

while on the other hand i have a 36 inch egyptian which has the potential to fill half the room

i love em both, they both have good smoke, it just depends on what/how much i wanna smoke.

Dude, one bay person to another... Don't buy your shit in berkeley... 95% of your their stuff is overpriced or chinese made crap. You can find better from sites like Social Smoke or MnHookah. The only shop I would go to in hippie land is Wheylans, cause they sell pharohs.

That glass pipe does not LOOK that big. It looks like the only part involved in the smoking is the small part on top and the cone shaped portion going into the section of glass with the blue liguid. How big is that thing? Is it harsh to smoke out of without any real stem length? How many grams of tobacco can that bowl hold? Really cool looking design.

Well when I got into looking into the specifics on the website the actual part that you smoke out of appears to be 15.7 inches tall and 9.8 inches wide at the widest part(just below the bowl. ). Does not sound all that big to me unless I did the conversions wrong since metric is not my personal strong point.

I think it might be someone who wants to sell you a hookah perhaps? Just guessing because your right it really does not have much (if anything) to do with the topic.

I wouldn't take it that far to accuse anyone of anything. I believe it's pretty obvious to everyone that visits the forums that we like the average hookah (or better than average, whatever gives a good smoke) and nothing freakishly extravagant. I think that person just loves those hookahs, nothing more. I like the one with the 3 metal legs, myself. Looks like it'd walk around the room or something cool happy.gif

i love it!!! its like the new age hookah. the thing looks great if your not into that old genie lamp idea of a hookah. but offcourse its all personal preference and seeing the price i dont think i'll be getting one any time soon, but would love to try that thing out, and its probibly a breeze to clean
