speel
Im tired of standing in front of my stove for almost 5 mins just to light coals .. any one knows any other ways to light naturals?
samildanach
i put them in a pot, leave them on the stove , then go set up my hookah, by the time im done , the coals are usually ready.with naturals the quickest method is probably placing directly on an electric coil stove., but its pretty messy, hence using a pot... Glottis
Just so you guys know, putting coals in a pot and putting it on a hot stove is a good way to ruin a pot. Basically, it works, but try using a pot you don't care about or buy a cheap one at Ross or something, because the bottom of the pot can get very warped this way.The way I usually light my natural coals is putting them on the little gas stove on the side of the grill, but sometimes I put them inside the grill. I've also had good luck with the bernzomatic torches.

Puddy
Don't use a non-stick pot and you should be okay.I light my coals on an open gas flame (stove). I just put a cooling rack (e.g.) on the thing that covers the burners so the coals don't roll off. Edited January 11, 2007 by Puddy
JoeLipinski
I use a cheap electric hot plate that I got from walmart for 8.88. The hot plate works perfect, you just put the coal in-between two of the coils and then turn it on full power. You can get a hot plate that gets hotter quicker, but I don't feel like paying another $10.00 for a improved version. I usually turn the burner on with 2 coals when I start prepping the hookah and by the time the hookah is ready, the coals are too. I would highly recommend this avenue because it is a cheap, effective solution that doesn't get your stoves burner all nasty from ash and it also doesn't ruin a pot. Hope this helps.Joe
ZAP
I use a stove to get the coals glowing just a little bit (literally a speck of orange) and then I place it into a pot and use a heat gun to burn it through.
zoddi
propane torches are great, even for the weaker quicklites. It's only $2.44 for a new tank when it runs out. I've seen around $16-20 for a kit that includes a starter, instead of just a valve.
