Washing "washable" hoses

Recommended Posts

I just bought several hoses from mya,
good buy at $7 US each.  Supposed to be washable.  My
question is, what is the best way to wash them, and, more importantly,
dry them?

I don't want to be inhaling mold or anything nasty like that - seems
like it could be the fast-track to a bad upper repiratory problem if
not done correctly.

depend son how strong the hose is, if it looks sturdy, then just grab
one end of the hoe and force ti into the sing faucet and hold it and
let the water pressure blast thru and clean it, then go outside and
wing it aorund in a circle a bunch until the centrifical force pulls
all the water out

Hey NERV, those are the best instructions ever for washing a hose. I have several of the same hoses piperdown has. I got them from Hookahook.com for $5.00 each (last spring) and they are amazing! Well, I did it all to your instructions, spun them around under cover of darkness in the front yard and had great results.  However, one thing: The water was coming out clear, so I took an end in each hand and slapped the hose on the floor real hard, put water through it and almost puked at the stuff that came out. I repeated this procedure until the water coming out was pretty clean after each slap. Still perfectly airtight.
Thanks for the tip!

i gotta washable hose. wat i do is stick da mouth end into da sink faucet, and da grommet end into da toilet (of course, keep da end above da toilet water) and run warm-hot water thru it. warm-hot water would probly remove dirt/grime/etc more effectively than cold water. after runnin water thru it for mayb 10-15 seconds, start blowin hard thru da hose and try to force out wateva's in there. do this 2-3 times, mayb even 4. sumtimes u might wanna try stickin a long, thin object into da grommet end of da hose and try to loosen dirt/grime/etc. this technique seems to work great for me.

Also, you should hang the hose up to dry completely before using it.
Hang it from the middle so both ends hang down, and leave it for a few
hours to ensure that any remaining moisture drips out or evaporates.

I should also mention,  for those of you with air compressors at
home, very handy to get the remaining moisture out of a hose. just
tried it with mine and it worked better than anything!

Thanks folks - seems to be working well with the run-water-through-it,
then blow out with air compressor trick.   Nary a hint of
cappucino afterwords.  Does anyone use detergent, or does that
leave too much in the way of soapy taste?

If you must use any soap dont use an exotic scent. Just get the lemon
scented or unscented and be stingy while useing it. Dont use more than
a couple drops. If you do it will get too foamy. You want just enough
to clean and do its job.

I tried NERV's trick of slinging it around in circles to pull the water out and it worked just as advertised. Only problem is I almost took out the car windshield and my shoulder still hurts. All together now: "Ahhhhhh."
