Allia22
Well, that and charcoals that don't break apart when you try to pick them up. Using 3K 40mms. At least that's what I ordered... I read about the problems that people were having with the 33mms and the effects are similar to what I'm having. I'm going to buy some natural stone tiles to put in the corner where I smoke because I've already made a huge circular burn in the carpet and a crapload of smaller burn marks in the wood the carpet is on. My mom's going to be piiiiiiissed! >.<
fewwdragon
Words of advice. Never put coals in a glass ashtray. I managed to explode one on my first personal smoking experience
hookahmike
Mikee puts on tinker hat for immediate fixes1. Hardware store - get 2-3 ft square sheet of aluminum, put something underneath to keep from skidding too much. Bend up edges to make rim so that rolling charcoals CAN'T. Hookah in Center? (use same rubber to keep in place?)2. Heard something about fireproof rugs (not sure about affect on stability.3. If the tiles ARE nearby, GET THEM NOW!Hope this helps...QUOTE (Allia22 @ Jan 15 2007, 04:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well, that and charcoals that don't break apart when you try to pick them up. rattler
If your going to be smoking inside just get some Japanese coals. You can light them by holding one of the black edges over a zippo for 60 seconds and then setting them in your hookah's ashtray for 5 minutes. Not as quick as the instant lites but they don't snap and pop or fall apart They also have no funky taste and burn for longer than most instant lites. Allia22
Hmmm... good suggestions people! I'm going through charcoal faster than I thought I would be and I've got a ton more shisha on the way... Mebbe I'll invest in some sort of Japanese or natural coals. As for a big ol' piece of metal for a table, I could prolly grab some galvanized sheet metal from school and sneak off to my car with it

mushrat
I just have a thick small rug I roll out for under the hookah when I'm smoking. If a coal its it, i have enough time to stomp on it before it gets through the rug. When Im done, It simple rolls up and goes away. Now, the natural chunk that i didn't realize rolled off my hotplate new years eve and burned a nice deep hole in the countertop...thats different. Good thing I own the place and my wife only mentions it every OTHER time I smoke...

HAHkoo
i go to the dollar store and buy a couple of those baking aluminum trays (smallest you can find) put two together (one on top of the other) and put my coals in that. i can safely put coals in it and place it on the rug w/o burning it. and since they have high walls your coals can't slide out. Sonthert
You could also use an extra ceramic head.
