Erica
So, We were talking in another thread, about double chamber hookahs...If one chamber had hot water and the other had cold water with an ice chamber how would it smoked?Have any of you smoked with hot water in the vase??I am really curious now! Someone enlighten me!
fizzgig
Don't know anything about double chamber hookahs. But , yes... I've smoked with hot water in the vase. When I mix apple and cinnamon shisha, I always use hot apple cider in the vase. Contrary to opinion, it does NOT make the smoke harsh. It just makes it feel warm and steamy... for this particular mix, lending it that fresh from the oven apple pie sensation. A good rule of thumb is: if you would tend to like the flavor hot if you were going to eat it, you'd probably enjoy it warm and steamy while you are smoking it. Jones
I've used hot water several times in the past, and my analogy is, you know how cold water makes smoke thick? Hot water makes smoke thin. Which I personally don't consider a bad thing, there's certain overpowering flavors (SB, I'm looking at you!) that can be best enjoyed a little thinned out. Also, on claims that it makes smoke harsh, well, it's a matter of perception. The smoke becomes thinner, then you inhale harder, causing you to take a much larger hit than you normally would, making it seem harsher.
HookahETC
Wow, never thought of that...I could imagine smoking some sort of chocolate flavor...and hot water...would it tatse like chocolate milk? HahaI have always done ice in the vase...i don't do it all the time, but with some flavors like mint or lemon, it's fantastic. If hot water is a possibility, is warm milk one too?Keep posting! fizzgig
Well.... you know. too much milk in the vase is never a good thing. Warm or cold, it'll bubble up thru your hoses and make a nice mess for you. Not to mention the unpleasant experience of getting a mouthful while you're taking a hit! Blech! Unfortunately, I know this from experience! So if you want to use milk dilute it with water! And yes... hot anything is a possibility.
Erica
hahhah Yea... You want like 1/4 milk to water....thats so nasty!
HookahETC
Never tried milk cause I always figured it would be disgustiing. Some people swear by it though...like with strawberry, etc.Has anyone done ARAK in the vase? If no one knows what that is, it's some Arabi drink, similar to everclear, that old time Palestinians drink to sooth their throats along with other reaons lets just say ARAK + Any Shisha = Someone's getting fucked up. Scheetz
I have smoked with hot tap water a few times now. The smoke was a little bit warmer in the mouth but was still plenty thick. I could not tell a difference in smoke thickness besides the smoke being a slight bit warmer.
fizzgig
Nope. Never thinned my smoke, either.
Jones
Hmm, maybe the thin was just me then.. Possibly.Anywho, I personally don't use milk... mostly because i'm scared of the whole... curdled stuff. I've always just mixed in salt, helps lower the temperature, makes the water more dense, it doesn't...rot, etc.
Sonthert
Some brands of tobacco might experience a thinning effect. Others may not. I've advocated this idea for some time...glad to see the youth of this country following in my footsteps! Damn kids, stop using my hose for your hookah! And get off the lawn! johnchain
Personally, I find hot water quite soothing....boiling is quite awesome too.Basically, it combinds with the water vapor of the (really) hot water so you notice more moisture build up as you draw smoke. However, this larger amount of vapor/smoke happens to amplify the flavor. What's cool about a double chamber I guess is that it gets more water filtration (I once smoked out of a 10 chambered bong, you could directly ignite your "substance" and it would be like inhaling hookah smoke). However, the hot water cold water double chamber might contradict itself, that way it just deposits all that water vapor it picked up back in cold water lolHowever once again....possibly a hot water single chamber with some sort of ice cooling system on another small chamber (or on the hose?) would cool the hot water vapor/smoke making inhaling a ton of flavor possible. So Erica, if I remember it correctly, your second hookah design that you posted....if you made the bigger chamber really close to the first one, and put the whole hookah in an ice bucket (or make the whole second chamber have a double wall for ice insulation), that would be pretty cool. As long as the hot water vapor/smoke doesn't touch anything afterwards like ice or water, it should work.I would illustrate it, but once again, I don't have sexy Paint skills Cheers!
