How Much Flavour?

Recommended Posts

I was just wonmdering if you guys could describe to me, as best as you can, how much flavour is the norm you guys get. I've been smoking tangiers guava and melon blend, fakher golden eskandarani apple, and al amir blackberry. I only get a little hint of the flavour in the smoke. I have tried many different setups. I have not acclimated but intend to do. Will this add much more flavour. I have been getting good amounts of smoke. Anything will help.
Thnx

It really depends on the tobacco and who makes it

well tangiers you REALLY NEED to aclimate it.It has a terrible flavor if you dont.

As with the others, I hate al amir and think it sucks. The flavors are weak. For everything else, each brand has strong flavors and weak. Maybe try something else flavor wise for each brand.

Al Amir is actually very flavorful. I don't know what it is with so many people saying Al Amir isn't flavorful. Are guys smoking old expired stuff haha.

Altogether though, the first guy was right, everything depends on everything...if ya know what i mean. There are a lot of variables that can go right or wrong. Experiment with brands...spoil yourself until you are satisfied...cause if you don't, you shouldn't even bother smokin.

Keep Posting!

Yeah, Al Amir isn't very flavorful to begin with. Tangiers is supposed to be very flavorful but Sheetz is correct and it needs to be acclimated. Suprised your Fakher isn't flavorful for you. Apple I suppose is one of the milder of the Fakher flavors, though. Try the 50g sample packs of the different brands. I personally find Fakher, Waha and Havana to be the most flavor intense but that is purely subjective. Also, is the weather up your way inconsistant? If it is, I would acclimate all of your shisha. Also is it harsh and flavorless or... just flavorless?

Al Amir is pretty flavorless to me. Remove the foil and throw the coals on it and it will at least taste like something. LOL

Tangiers has a fairly strong flavor in their peach product. AF has some pretty darn strong flavors too.

Perhaps try some Layalina and Al Waha.

Are you smoking inside or outside? Is your tobacco fresh? I acclimate my tobacco without even thinking about it (I would even say I don't believe in it). I load up my head as soon as I rinse it out so it is ready to go when I am. Then again I smoke at least once a day, so it might not work for you.

Well i dont mean in my experience. But i mean like what is the most flavour you guys get with any of these. The smoke is not harsh or thin, but i can only taste a really small hint of flavour.

AA has flavor, but it's all the same. There is an Al Amir undertone which constitutes at least 50% of the taste. I have tried Caramel Apple, Banana Split, Mint, and Pomegranate and they all taste pretty much the same. Some slight variation but that's about it.

I usually find Tangiers to be the most flavorful. Nothing beats the flavor explosion of kashmir wub.gif Melon Blend is also a very strong flavor -- too strong for me...

Man, I asked this question too the first time I got on this forum. The only thing people did is ask me about my setup and bullshit like that, and said like "Well, depend on the tobacco you use" rolleyes.gif Some people just like to sound really hookah smart.

Truthfully dude, You dont get alot of flavor, it's usually exaggerrated (sp?) I usually can taste a tiny hint of flavor, if any. I have tasted the most flavor in my Havana Cappuccino. That is a very good flavor and tastes like coffee. BUt it still isnt super strong. I got lemon menthol, and that tasted minty, apparently minty flavors are quite strong.

Bottom line, in my experience, it's not like "BOOM THATS STRAWBERRY" it's more like someone tells you that's strawberry and you are like "O okay I could see that"

*nods* Unless it's anise. You can tell that flavor from the get-go >.<

HAHAHA yeah when you get anise/liquorice my normal remark is F*CK, GOD D*MMIT ITS F*CKING LIQUORICE. this only happens when I am at a lounge though and the person before me had liquorice or 2x Apple in their hookah and its still partially in the hose.

Liquorice is disgusting as far as I am concerned. I bought the Double apple not knowing any better and when I opened the package I wondered why the hell it smelled that way...When I smoked it I almost died! No apple taste whatsoever, but a anise flavor (ever notice anise/anus???) so strong I brushed my teeth 3 times in a row and still tasted that sh*t. YUCK.

Lots of smoke, little flavor is a humidity shock issue, seemingly.

Actually, I never acclimate Tangiers. Sometimes it doesn't smoke too good, but it usually smokes fine-great. I offer it as a suggestion to people who don't smoke regularly, their tubs are opened up alot less, but they want the tobacco to smoke well when they smoke it.

Re: Scheetz, Fizzgig: Perhaps too little airflow or too little tobacco, still. Acclimation does help to make Tangiers smoke better if it isn't set up right, but nothing beats a well-prepped bowl for good smoking.

hahaha. next time i make a strawberry i am going to pass the hose and just shout "BOOM THATS STRAWBERRY" to make them wet themselves.

but really, you are going to get an essence of the flavor and thats about it. mints, some oranges, and the coffees tend to be more robust, but some flavors like vanilla and strawberry are super subtle. if someone tells you it tastes like they just ate a fresh peach, they probably did and just didnt notice. i'm still looking for the magical flavor that makes me scream BOOM THATS "INSERT FLAVOR NAME HERE"
But I am yet to find it...

Does anyone have any

Cuz i too hear people say "It's like I bit intoa fresh peach" And I'm like Fuck that, that never happens. I think it's more like a cigar. Cigars have a slight you know, leather and pine flavor, with a mild liquorice finish. I think it's the same thing, and people are just exaggerating.

We have no real way of knowing if you are "missing out" or not, but I know from experience that there there is weak flavor and there is strong flavor. Sometimes the kind of tobacco used is responsible for the intensity of flavor, sometimes it's the way the bowl is packed, sometimes it's the kind of coals used, sometimes it's the weather and the state of the tobacco -- actually, it's always a mix of all those variables. Can't say I know exactly what you were expecting, but there is still always a relative strong and weak. I find some of Tangiers flavors to be the most vivid -- Kashmir in particular is an extremely vivid taste and, I'd even say, sensation. As mentioned, mint and anise are strong. I've had some very strong raspberry. And there are times when you get that smoke which seems to be vaporizing all the flavor in the bowl at once, resulting in pretty intense flavor sensations strong enough to leave an aftertaste in your mouth.

Nobody (at least I'm not) is trying to snobbishly suggest that there is something wrong with your technique -- I personally think that we only have a certain amount of control over how well the tobacco smokes and a lot of it depends on weather conditions and other strange variables. At the same time, for all we know there could be something you could do to intensify the flavor a bit... the best way to go about it is to experiment for yourself.

edit: Tangiers Melon Blend is a pretty strong flavor... I would think that it should be able to produce smoke containing at least a little more than what could be called a mere "hint of flavor." I actually don't even smoke it because it's too intense a flavor for me. But, you never know what effects these things...
