Recommendations For A First Time Buyer

Hi,

I have recently started smoking a hookah (mainly at my cousins). I wanted to purchase one for myself and while searching for recommendations/information I found this forum online. I did some searching on this forum and saw the Mya hookah mentioned a few times. But I was wondering if someone could give me a recommendation of a specific hookah (perhaps a link?) and some tobacco that you would recommend for a new smoker. I plan on smoking usually with a group of 2 or 3 others so what size would I want? As for the price range I am happy to spend up to $120. I want it for functionality and some really good thick smoke, I don't really care about the looks.

I know that I just asked a ton of questions--many of which most of you will say have already been answered and can be found by a search online. But it would be a great help to me (and I imagine to many other new hookah smokers) to be able to come to a single thread and find a set of specific recommendations from experienced smokers such as yourself. Well in any case, any help you can offer will be much appreciated (and definately put to use).

Mya Hookahs are your best bet because they function well, and for rookies like you, they are easy to handle/care for.

When you want thick smoke...you could upgrade to an Egyptian or a Syrian Hookah. They will usually be of better quality, a bit more expensive, and a lot heavier.

It realy doesn't matter if you're going to smoke by yourself or with a group...all hookahs should basically function the same in each situation. However, the multiple hose hookahs will allow for less smoke if more than 1 person is smokin at the same time.

The tobacco is reallyy up to you, and how much you want to spend. They range in price, flavor, and a bit variation in quality.

my friend jus bought one the other day, the smoke chamber is just huge compared to the other glass hookahs on the mya site

Well... it is a lot more personal to get an answer directly intead of ALWAYS using the search. After all the search can't answer questions directly. Mya's are nice... but I think for your first hookah I'd go for an Egyptian. They're attractive, reliable (if bought from a reputable vendor) And hit well. I love my Myas dont get me wrong, but for pure functionality and the best smoke quality I've discovered the Egyptian can't be beat. How many hoses is up to you. I personally like only one hose because you get the best hit. If you don't mind sharing and just want the thickest smoke, one hose is for you. I think that the purge valve clears the smoke out better with an Egyptian as well. Never seem to be able to get any of my Myas completely purged.
