Cleaning Tip

Recommended Posts

Ok so i have the mya acrylic, and i bought it from a cigar shoppe and it reeked of ciger and even tasted like cigar when i smoked out of it, so i tried all that stuff that was previously mentioned in the forums(various cleaning solutions, brushes, lemon juice) but it still tasted like, for lack of a better term, butthole, so i plopped the stem and heart into the dishwasher(seperated) with som electrosol dish detergent and low and behold i can taste flavors now! i dunno if anyone else has tried this with a mya acrylic, but just fyi it worked for me, now im just gonna put it in the dishwasher every couple session to get a fresh pipe. does anyone know of any long term negative effects of using the dishwasher or is this ok?

No idea. The acrylic is probably ok, but I put my base in my dishwasher and found out it was just painted red and it's flaking off in areas now sad.gif

so back to the question at hand....(i love how the girl on the internet can take a thread with one post biggrin.gif <3

dishwashers are good just, ya make sure it dries well

also something interesting, (just thought of it on a whim) try putting some lemon juice where you would normally put the soap. and also of course wash your hookah alone

lol Totally unintentional with the thread stealing, I assure you wink.gif I've always been a putzer with designs. I want to put something symmetrical on my hookah kinda like what I put on my boots (I've had these babies since I was a sophmore in HS. LOTS of sentimental value biggrin.gif)

(my cat decided to walk into the photo wink.gif)

Your imagination (and personal safety o_O) is the limit as far as pimping out your hookah. I may end up taking the rest of the red off myself, etching the glass, and painting (the outside at least) with car paint. Candy Apple red over high-gloss black, hells yeah XD

ACK sorry, I hijacked the thread again >.< You may worry about the acrylic getting scratches in it from the dishwasher or maybe even from drying it with a towel. Mebbe I'm just thinking about generic plastics; I admit I'm not too familiar with acrylic.

(when I get my hookah designed like I want to, I'll be sure to put it in the DIY part of the forum *blush*)

They do, but it doesn't stay on very well... I'm leaving the inside of it completely alone, even if it does eventually peel off. Once you flash and cure the automotive paint properly it shouldn't have any strange smells coming out of it. But suffice it to say, I don't want to take the risk of pooing up my vase tongue.gif

Because frankly, no one wants a poopy base.

yea i'd be iffy about automotive paint as well, what about the craft paint they use for like model airplanes and cars?

so im assuming that wouldnt work so well, well when you DO end up painting it let me know how it worked out, and way to steal my thread (lol)

but really i suggest you use the dishwasher at least for the heart and the stem if you can, it works wonders

Nice boots...My wife actually paints her fingernails with automotive paint(those little touch up bottles). I wouldn't worry about paint on the outside of the vase anyways...the inside I would, but it would be hell to paint anyways.

*you may now return to your regularly scheduled thread*

can of starbuzz for the cat?

Working on it. White Peach smile.gif I usually give him a puff in his general direction then shoo him out of the room because he's like 12 years old and I don't want him to die any sooner wub.gif
