First off, have you used Tangier before? If so, thie thin and harsh might come fromnot enough tobacco in the bowl... Tangiers requres a little more denser of a pack than you'd normally do for other tobaccos. The humidity shouldn't be a problem as long as you acclimate it.

Bah 50% it is always about 90% here in Galveston, and I think you should acclimate it for at least 1.5-3hrs before you smoke it in whatever room you plan on smoking it. Sorry I can't comment on tangiers though, never smoked it in two different climates. Edited by hmpitags2006

I prefer low humidity for all hookah smoking, but especially for full-strength swag like tangiers and naklah. Seems on wet days there is a rough start to the session with a lot of nicotine coming through in the first 10 minutes or so. Kicks my ass and don't taste prime either. Then it seems to even out. I'd bet air conditioning will help a great deal, since it takes water out of the air.

AThe tobacco can get used to any humidity, as far as I can tell. The only factor that I have found that really makes a difference is how hard the water is, the amount of minerals dissolved in the water.

Thin and harsh means too little tobacco. Don't get nutty and put tons in there and then have it mashed down so that it won't smoke or draw.

Edit: Here in San Diego, it gets kinda bad, too, high humidity. 60-80% isn't uncommon here, and things smoke fine. The warmer it is, the warmer the ambient temp. of the jar water becomes, and the weaker the flavor and nicotine are going to be.
