cypress
I have a few reviews to do today so here goes. Al Amir Lemon Aroma: I was very excited to get to this one as I havent tried a lemon before. The aroma was quite different then what I expected. It smelled something similar to Lemon Joy minus the soapy scent. Cut/Wettness: The cut was a fine cut. However, the wettness was lacking. I am not sure if it was because it was from the top of the batch or because it was just that way. Taste/Smoke Session: I would first start off with WOW. I think this is one of the very few that hit the flavor pretty much right on. I was expecting a candy lemmon drop type flavor. What I got was very close to lemmon zest. It wasnt the sour type flavor either. The smoke thickness was good also. I was using 2 goldens and my session lasted 1.5 hours. Overall Rating: This smoke was good. Even though I would have been satisfied with a lemmon drop type flavor I think this one is going to grow on me because its different and it was good. My overall rating is going to be a 9.5. I am still looking for my all time favorite and that will be the one to rate a 10. Al Fakher Mango: Aroma: The aroma of this one is mango syrupy type smell. It wasnt anything too special to me as noted by other reviews in this forum. Cut/Wetness: It was pretty much your standard Fakher cut. It was pretty much wet like many others in this line. Taste/Session: The flavor of mango isnt a blast like I was expecting. When I think of mangos I think of it being strong. It didnt help my expectations that I had some mango salsa recently so the flavor was fresh on my mind. The thickness of smoke is always good with Fakher. Overall Rating: If you like a mild flavor that is pleaseing then this one is for you. As for me I like a strong sweet or tart flavor. I am going to rate this a 7.5. I would say this is slightly above the traditional brands that are out in the market. Romman Raspberry: Aroma: I couldnt quite put a finger on the aroma other than being a blue raspberry type bubble gum scent. I was kind of disapointed on this from the beggining. Raspberry is my favorite fruit and I have been searching for something similar to a raspberry. I guess I have 3 other choices to try; Al Amir, Al Waha, and Fumari. Cut/Wetness: This one is a no brainer. This brand is pretty much consistant in wettness and cut. Taste/Smoke Session: The flavor wasnt anything that I would want in a raspberry smoke. It tasted like a fake wanabe raspberry. It didnt taste bad but for 20 bucks I was expecting more. The thickness was good though. Overall Rating: I think this is going to be one of my lower ratings for Romman. Luckily I didnt buy a 250 and be out 20 bucks plus shipping. If this wasnt a premium brand I would have given it a 6. Since it is I am expecting a little more then what I had. My rating is a 5.5. The sad part it is that I tried this one twice on two separate nights because I though I may have done something wrong. Both times I was 30 minutes in and could not get in the mood to finish it. It just wasnt something worth smoking 1.5 hours for me.
cypress
Al Amir Grape Aroma: I couldnt quite pinpoint the smell at first . Now after the second time in smoking it I have concluded that it is similar to a Grape Bublegum type flavor. This is very different in flavor that AF Grape like I am use to. Cut/Wetness: I have concluded that a few of Al Amir's cuts are fine. The three samples of Al Amir that King Mo sent were pretty consistant. It was finer than Romman and AF. I didnt have any problems with finding big chunks of stems or leaves. Taste/Session: In this case the aroma matched the flavor. It tasted like Bubblelicous (sp) grape gum that I use to chew as a kid. I dont chew gum as often anymore as I have a tendency to bite more than I can chew. Sometimes my tongue suffers. The smoke with 2 goldens comes out nice and silky. Overall Rating: I was pleased with this smoke. Its not a powerful flavor. Its just enough to know that its there but not enough to get you buzzed up. I tried the nose hit thing like some others and this wasnt bad at all. This is definatly something you might sit down and relax with not expecting a big punch out of. My rating is a 7.5. I think I still like AF grape better but this isnt a bad second.
cypress
Back to some qualtity posting. Yashman19 i sent a PM last week and you havent responded. Are you not interested? Al Amir Peach Aroma: I cant quite pinpoint the aroma as other than being a fake kinda peachy scent. I dont quite get that realy peachy scent as I do with Fumari and Romman. On a blind fold test I would not be able to pick it out as being peach. Cut/Wetness: See previous post as it is similar. Taste/Session: The taste matches the aroma. The flavor of the smoke has that fake peachy candy taste. Its not bad but not exceptionally good either. The smoke thickness is good. ITs about the same as the Grape Al Amir. Its nice and silky. It doesnt have that hard hitting buzz as other flavors and brands have. Overall: This wasnt a bad smoke. For 6 bucks a 250 at my local Egyptian Market it isnt bad. I definately won't spend over 9 bucks for this as I can get AF for 10 bucks at some online stores. I might have to resort to Al Amir as my primary if the trend of online tobacco cease. My rating is a 7. I do like more of an in your face type of peach flavor but the smoke thickness was good which ofFset the flavor. This is a nice smoke for people not looking for a strong tobacco flavor or big buzz.
Mathazar
Yashman19 said goodbye to this forum. He was upset because he felt that I was pushing a newbie, Molson, in the direction of buying Premium Hookah products rather than letting him explore what's out there on his own. I was bashing Nakhla and 3Kings Coals, and I was trying to inspire him to buy Romman and Golden Coals. We got into a fairly heated debate, he couldn't handle it, and he said he would never come back to this forum again. And MR Bubble blamed me for his leaving. cypress
Well, I am not leaving. I didnt spend the last 8 months trying to be an active member and just quit. We all have our opinions. Mathazar
cypress.........I frigging lost my moderator priveledges when I tried to ban badass this morning. I don't know what I did wrong to cause this. I also keep getting logged-out. Is there any possibility you could go into the Admin/Moderator section of my profile and see if there have been any changes to my account that would cause these problems? You don't have to, but I'd appreciate it. Every time I try to delete those childishly moronic posts, the system logs me out. Or if I try to Edit my own post, I get logged-out. It's really weird. I'm not leaving either. We're just going to have to weather the storm with these forum trollers and hope they get tired and go away soon. I would reccommend that everyone just ignore their posts completely. Thanks for whatever assistance you can provide me with

cypress
Review time again: Nakhala Cherry: Aroma: I opened up the box and low and behold I was given a nice scent of black cherry. It was very distict. It smelled good. I have high hopes of this being good. Typically I am not a Nakhla fan but for 4 bucks a box I was willing to give this a try. Cut/Wettness: Are you kidding... This is the regular style of Nakhala. Broad cut with plenty of stems to go with it. What wetness. I don't really have to worry about getting my hands dirty because its so dry. Given the dryness I know I am going to have to manage my heat to not burn the ma'assel. Taste/Smoke Session: Well I was quite disapointed. I am use to Romman and Al Fakher Cherry and this did not come any where close to their rankings. The flavor that hit me in the face the most was this floral-perfumey type flavor which i really have no care for. I would say the floral was not an undertone it was more of the flavor and black cherry was the undertone. The floral flavor was pretty solid for about 20 minutes. I was also disapointed in the smoke density. I was a thin cloud. I used 1.5 coal and could not use anymore. My session lasted a measly 45 minutes. I am typically use to 1-1.5 hours with Romman and Al Fakher. Overall Rating: I was pretty disapointed in all aspects of this smoke. The best part was the fact that the ma'assel smells like real black cherries but other than that you can forget enjoying it if you do not like floral. I really had to check the box again to make sure it was not El Basha. It was Nakhala. For those who are not familair with El Basha, it is made by Nakhala and typically is lighter and has a floral undertone. My overall rating is going to be a 3.5. I wasnt an absolute nasty taste nor it will be something I might purchase again. I will go ahead and buy Al Fakher as I liked that one better. cypress
I couldnt wait to do some reviews. I even cut some of my sleeping short to do this as I worked last night and got home at 7 AM Serbetli Bananna: Aroma: Wow. I opened the package it it was a great smell of bananna's with a hint of cinnamon. It also had an earthy undertone. This type of aroma reminds me of something similar to bananna fosters. Cut/Wetness: Man... I haven't seen anything like this before. The cut was a semi fine cut. It was some where in between Hookah Hookah and Al Fakher. That wasnt what amazed me but the stickyness was. This stuff was so sticky that I could probably take a chunk and fling it on the wall and it would stick. I definately could not put this in the head just like that. I had to take a chuck out of the package and break it up on a plate before loading it. Taste/Smoke Session: I almost knew that with it being so sticky that I would only need 1 coal. After starting my instinct was correct. You do not need any more than one good coal at a time. It didnt take long to get this bad boy going. The taste matched the aroma wonderfully. It wanst a strong hit of bananna's, it was almost a perfect mix of great smoke thickness and flavor. It tasted real similar to the fosters that I described in the aroma. Overall Rating: I was very happy with they way it turned out. As of now I am going on 1 hour smoking and it still tastes good. I have added a second coal and the thickness and the flavor is still there. I was kind of worried before I started that since this was different I was going to have a bad flavor that I was not use to. I was wrong. Given the factor, I would rate this a solid 8.5. This is definately something I would want to see in the states. I havent tried many bananna's but after I try AF bananna I might have to CON Alen to hold a box for me and pay for it to get over here to my house. Thanks Alen for letting my try this wonderful smoke.

cypress
Serbetli Mint. Aroma: Well I have to say this was a better aroma than HH Menthol. The smell was very different. This one actually smells like pepermint. Its real nice and strong. Just smelling the ma'assel opened up my sinuses. Cut/Wettness: Same as above. The consistancy is there. In all the three samples that I have. Taste/ Smoke Session: This is definatly a good flavor. Its nice and peper minty. During the smoke it opened up my sinuses big time. The smoke wasnt as thick as the bananna but the flavor was there. An wow the buzz is starting to kick in after 30 mintes of smokeing. Its a nice relaxing buzz. I think I might need a nap soon. Overall: I might have to revise my score on HH Menthol. This is definatly better in taste. I had to use 2 coals this time but that may be bacause I had to use heavy duty foil. I havent taken any deep puffs yet because this is so relaxin and I am scared that I might over do it and get a halacious buzz. My overall rating of this is going to be a 9. This is definatly something I would want to buy here in the states.
cafedelmar
This is one of the best threads I've seen, gotta bring it back to the top.
Brad
I agree! I also think that some of the larger review threads, like King Mo's, Cypress', or Mushrat's should be stickied. OR, a section specifically for reviews would make it easier to find information on a brand/flavor and would encourage members to write reviews. cafedelmar
I like the idea of a review section, but if that is not possible a big sticky would work great too. Makes it a lot easier when buying
