Zemo
When cleaning out the stem of my hose, the water turns varying shades of brownish-green....what is that? It can't be tar, right, since tar = 0%....so what is it? I'd hate to think I'm coating my lungs with that crap.... -Z
NERV
its a mixture of smoke, tobacco, and moisture, its expected
ApoC
yes we all get that. just a mixture of yucky stuff that sticks to the inside of the stem. and no, it doesnt get into the lungs, the water is at the very worst, a bit off color and smells like the shisha, and since the water is the final filter, and its quite clear, its safe to assume the smoke is also very clean. not to mention no lung irritation. HOOKAH SMOKE RULES!
ZAP
I think it only happens with traditional Egyptian hookahs though because I never used to get black stuff coming from my smaller Bohemian hookah. I think it is from the water because if you was the inside of the stem and don't dry it then clean it BEFORE smoking it the next time then you will get loads of the sludge. To100YearsToL8
I get it from my Syrian so its not just Egyptiains.
ZAP
Hmmm.... are they made of copper? I know copper pipes and pennies go green when wet so that's probably why. My Bohemian hookah has been chrome treated inside the stem too so that's probably why it doesn't happen.
cypress
Keep in mind that the leather hoses have that spring inside of them. The spring is exposed metal. I took and old one apart and it was rusted inside.
ApoC
It seems to change depending on the type of shisha. sometimes i get brown, sometimes yellow, sometimes green, the only variable is really the shisha. the hose has nothing to do with it since its after the fact in the path of the smoke.
