atrombom
the vase looks exactly like the "genie" vase from the egyptians at hookah-shisha.com! Interesting...
NERV
ive told others, ill tell you, look very carefully at the top of the stem, with the hollow hookahs if there is a crack there the syrup can seep into the decorative parts and ooze out any cracks, my pipe does it, i rly need to get a ne wone but im so cheap, lol, dont wanna get one until mine breaks
Roketsloth
where exactly do i need to look on the stem? the outside? inside? the hookah won't get here until tomorrow or wed. probably. i'm excited.
NERV
the very top where the inner pipe and the start of the deocerative parts are welded together, right around the lip of it
Roketsloth
what are these crazy titles we've been given under our names? odd and amusing. oh the poster is very lame. it's a hookah with this space age background and it says "DO YOU HOOKAH?" on it. i'm amused by its cheesiness. i'll check out the stem and let you guys know when it arrives (hopefully) tomorrow. NERV
in an attempt to be more specific with my lack of a digitcal camera, here goes: __ <- Inspect right around the rim for even tiny crakcs / / / that is a crude representation of the top of the stem, if there is a crack it probably wont be on the inside or outside but on the very top
cypress
If you need to fix it get some tin solder and seal the gap. DO NOT USE Lead or the stuff with the flux already in it. The tin will be safe since it is used in copper pipes for drinking water in some houses.
Ghaleon
a dem find looking hookah. dem fine looking, indeed.
Roketsloth
yeah, so the hookah came. I haven't smoked it yet, but it's kind of shoddy. I mean, It doesn't really surprise me...all hookahs are somewhat shoddy but there are some annoying aspects. The hose is the worst part, I think. You can see all of the hot glue where they glued the fabric and decorative string on...and it's all around poor, with chips in the wood and in the plastic "cobra hose" mouth piece. Also the stem's silver paint is chipping off at parts revealing a goldish metal underneath on part of the stem, and a more copper looking color at another. Other than that, it's pretty neat. Everything is just kind of shoddy, from the cleaning pipes, to the case. I don't know, I'd like to hear everyone's expectations when getting a hookah. I can be somewhat anal about things. Everyone else who saw it thought it was neat.
NERV
what i expect of a hookah depends on the style and price, a classic egyptian i dont expect too much, but a mod hookah i would expect rly good quality as they are supposed to designed and manufactured for perfect airtight
Roketsloth
Word, i took a pic. You can't see any of the shoddy manufacturing that i speak of in it. I've named her Simone, because she leans like a one-legged whore. I think the vase is just a bit uneven.
NERV
omg i hate when the hookah leans, thecoals can go right off the foil, try tog et it as straight as possible
Roketsloth
yeah, it doesn't actually lean that bad....the picture is askew. i've accepted Simone's shoddiness. She's had a tough life on the streets...but she's made it through on her charisma and her ability to f**k you up.
NERV
well then my hookah shall be named frankenhookah, a grotesque mix of parts of tradition hookahs from aorund the world and cheap modern technology, rejected by most for his unsightly appearance but accepted by a few for his powerful hits
