30 Inch Hookah Help

Its really going to come down to personal preference in the end....

One thing I have noticed about height is that the smoke on taller rigs run cooler and smoother.... but the flavor can drop off a bit. I dont understand why it would do that... but its something I have noticed.

I tend to grab a hookah that stands anywhere from 24-28" when I choose one for smoking each day... I rarely smoke my tall one and seldom smoke anything shorter unless Im in "picnic" mode.

i know for a fact that the old school rotator is build like a tank and heavy as hell. I would reccomend that.

Height shouldn't matter too much there buddy. Go for the one *you* want, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Because thats my job? If you feel that I'm being out of place, by all means send the other mods a PM regarding my actions. If they agree with you, I'll shut my yap. But if you READ the OP, you'd remember that this thread wasn't called "Should I get a rotator hookah". Nope. The OP was asking "Which rotator is better". In addition, your reply adds NOTHING to the original post.

I really am sorry to everyone, including you ASUSean that I'm coming off as a complete asshole. But my only intentions were to keep the forum organized. Please don't think I'm singling you out. I've commented to numerous other people nudging them in the right direction when their replies go off track a bit, a few today infact. So sorry if you think I'm trying to rag on you.

TO EVERYONE - Please please please don't get offended if I comment on your reply, I'm just trying to keep this place clean/organized. Also, I'm sorry if one of your posts magically dissapeares. Most likely your post was completely off topic, and wasn't necessary to the thread in question. I mean no harm, only love. Unless you harmed me, then I'll kill your post with vengence!

With all due respect (you all do keep this forum cleaner and more well run than almost any other one on the internet, and I have great respect for you guys for that), I have to say that I agree with ASUSEAN here. I don't know where you get the idea that the OP is "dead set" on getting a rotator - they do not come off this way in their post, and the fact that they only have 34 posts here suggests that maybe they haven't been exposed to the threads regarding the disadvantages of rotators (which are huge, according to some people here). If I was a relatively inexperienced hookah user (which I'm not saying the OP is, but for all ASU knows he might be), I would be perfectly happy to see my thread about a choice between two rotators turn into a thread explaining why rotators might not be the best idea. If people have opinions on the original issue (the choice between the two rotators), there is no reason to think that they won't also reply, even if some of the later posts only relate to rotator vs. non-rotator issue.

The truth is sometimes you are extremely trigger-happy with the whole "off-topic" thing, and it has made kept this forum near the fine line between well-run and controlling. I think, and others are free to disagree with me, that you need to be more selective about what you decide is off-topic. Posts should be presumed on-topic and helpful until proven otherwise. I don't see why this forum needs to be pristine to the point that every last word is perfectly on-topic. This is an online forum, not a national archives - there's gonna be a little bit of extraneous crap, but so long as people are genuinely trying to be helpful and raise a valid point, there should be no moderator action. Otherwise, you really risk taking the fun out of the whole thing.

i also have a Pharoah hookah from hookah-shisha which is nice, i just like the rotators when hangin with friends, makes things easier.

Guys... I see where yash is coming from... I mean, this is like a ton of threads that start talking about one kind of hookah... then disolves into OMFGBBQ GET A QT! "no, QT sucks! Get an Egyptian!" "No, try this one!" "Stargates suck!" "I touch myself at night" and into several series of off topic discussions that don't add to the thread, have been discussed millions of times, and don't help the OP. That being said...

Apollo, it really does come down to preference... they both look nice though Since you're doing the old school one, I'd say be careful with that ashtrey because it looks a little narrow and shallow. Put up pics when you get it and let us know how it smokes!

Fundamentally, Yash is right. If somebody says "Which rotator should I get?" (The one on the left, by the way....the heavier ones one right are harder to get replacement jars for AND tend to wobble more) and somebody says I don't like rotators, don't get one, that is not really on topic. Alot of threads degenerate into stupidity around here (Although some threads are pretty dumb, oh well).

By the same sense, hey, nobody's perfect. So some people hijack a few threads, big deal. So somebody wants to be there to remind people that they hijacked or deviated from the topic of a thread...big deal. Lets no start rating each other's post quality here, please. Its good to have Yash around to remind people about thread content. Gosh, bad news! Not every post that any person makes is going to be perfect or even beyond criticism. If we start going back and forth about how good people and their posts are, we'll never talk about anything hookah related. So, if you see a post that you think is dumb, ignore it. If you see some jackass who every other message has to change the subject to how wonderful brand X or Style Y are, report it to the mods...privately. No need to take care of this business in public and hurt people's feelings.

Edit: Also, the tray on the one on the right is welded on, if its like the other ones I've seen, which makes cleaning slightly more difficult...unless you like using the shower or the garden hose to clean the hookah.
