Can Anyone Recoemnd A Narghile?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am in the market for a narghile and I’m looking suggestions on what to get and where to mail order it from. Basically what I want most of all is:
1) quality construction with no rust prone parts with everything fitting together well. I need something that will last several years of regular use.

2) Nothing mass produced in some south Asian factory.

3) One hose (no more) with a size no less then 26 inches.

4) A price of no more then $100

I prefer recommendations from someone that own the narghile they recommend. Edited by Hajo Flettner

Hey Hajo, welcome to the forum! I hope you have a pleasant experience here, theres a lot of people willing to lend their two cents.
As for mine:

I would reccomend the Mya QT. Its a great hookah, forgot the full height but I think everyone (except lakemonster) would agree with me. It smokes like a champ, and is really a great hookah for such a small little bugger. It's one hose, with possible adaptation for a second. The glass is very thick so you dont need to worry about easy breakages, and is also very wide and heavy so tipping over pretty much isnt a problem. These can be found on a myriad of good sites, I can name em but I forget if its agaisnt the rules. I suggest you head over to the vendor reviews section and start looking it up!

May I suggest, while you wait for answers, just running back the pages and reading the threads asking the same questions.....

to your question, either search local stores for a nice egyptian, or you can find
a good one online...hookahshisha, ss, or hookahhookah

The problem with the QT is it doesn't fit what he is looking for. He said over 24 inch, it 14. he said no mass produced asain, its made in china, and while its one hose and quality construction, it's NOT what he asked for.

While most of the Egyptians out there arent really rust prone... they are made of steel. I wouldnt worry about them rusting.... but I suppose some have and or can... mine hasnt shown any.

Theres also the brass cast and sleeved Syrian hookahs... brass will tarnish... but not rust...I have always had a personal preference to these types of pipes.

The Mya Saray products contain a good deal of Chinese production parts... so think on that.

Sounds like this might be your first nargile? I personally would focus on getting a single hose pipe.... not too short... not too tall either.

Most will as long as you dont buy a cheap China knockoff from ebay.

2) Nothing mass produced in some south Asian factory.
Most of the products we use here are mass produced. Maybe not from Asia but from other countries. Pretty much any hookah you buy will be mass produced for under $100.

3) One hose (no more) with a size no less then 26 inches.
Try socialsmoke.com they have alot of hookahs that are 28+ inches and are great. However, some of there stuff, I believe their vases are made in china. I know Hookah Hookah vases are, there is a sticker on the bottom of mine.

4) A price of no more then $100
The hookahs you are looking for will probably be right around $100 or more. The larger they are the more expensive they become.

laugh.gif sorry, i thought it said no more than 26 inch, and as for the south asia remark, meh i'll admit i kind of just ignored it, i never figured out why people hold bias against companies like that (well i understand the sweatshop thing, but its a thing of reality, you can't deny reality

Thank you all for the replies. The reason I specified a height of 26 inches is for the simple reason that smaller narghiles tend to smoke to hot in my experience although I have also noted that small pipes tend to be designed for low costs and often have poor build quality as a result. I have an aversion to Asian products in part because of child labour and similar issues but also because I doubt that anyone but Arabs, Turks & Persians would understand and care about the details that go into making a well thought out narghile.

I have been smoking various narghiles for some time although all of them were bought while I worked in Syria, Iraq and Iran so I got them for very little money and all were of exceptional quality. When I moved recently my smoking paraphernalia was all lost and the insurance company disinterested. I am distressed at the poor quality of the items I see on ebay
and at local shops catering to “mind spice” users.

I think that the problem with looking for pipes on the internet is that it’s very hard to tell which one has a decent a quality fit. I plan on writing some reviews of uncommon, at within the Occident, of various tobamels, tumbâks and Jurâks. I am particularly keen on the Surena, Al-Afdal Shahanshah, Ishfahani and Shîh 'el-beled brands. Beyond that I intend to write a little introductory note and attack the myths of the anti-smoking lobby.
